and are you guys upping your kcals or just staying the same? I think im going to try this program for weightgain, good idea? bad idea?
It usually takes me about 90 minutes to get through it maybe longer if I throw in some assistance work.
I don’t know why you couldn’t use it to help gain mass if your diet is appropriate. There’s plenty of volume that’s for sure. I’m guessing HP Mass might be better for that purpose but I’m willing to bet this will work pretty well.
Edit: on the subject of mass gain, I also like the SH complex because I have time for assistance work. Especially with a training partner I simply did not have enough time for assistance work and I really missed doing it. Not to take a way from HP Masss by any means, it’s a fine program, but I do like this more.
GUYS DO NOT DO THIS PROGRAM !
THE WEIGHT GAIN WILL ONLY COME FROM YOUR BONES TURNING INTO ADAMANTIUM.

^ nice lol.
to the OP, think tank fish mentioned it earlier that program does require you moving HEAVY weights (supramaximal) with the pin work and stuff so if you do really stick with this program im gunna recommend throwing in a day where you focus on the health of your shoulders. my arms are LONG and the benching from the pins and other moves put a number on me. i definitely saw an increase in strength after completing the program though so get excited!!
oh also invest in a foam roller if you haven’t already that’ll help keep you injury free as well…

Yeah I’m strongly considering a deload week after I finish this phase, on my third. It’s been going so well that I figure I should just keep going while it’s good. My right shoulder in particular is starting to be a little sore again and I thinnk it will be time. Although it could just be me going a little wider on my BP. I watched some Tate videos on the BP again and decided to go a little wider. I do like it and I’m hoping it’s just a matter of needing an adjustment period.
so would you say the HP Mass workouts take longer so you couldnt do assistance work? Im head back to school lately and while I love being in the gym, I definitely need to plan ahead and be able to manage my time well.
I would say that SH Complexes are a little, not much, more time efficient than HP Mass especially if you have a training partner.
I’m almost done with my first six weeks of HP mass, without a partner they go by pretty fast. Especially after the first three weeks. It might depend on the weight you pick though. I picked weights that for three quality reps I could do with a small sticking point and that were not that explosive for my MTW now though even adding 5 lbs onto that and today will be my second lower press day on week six the weight is flying.
I have been using indigo though, and my work capacity is a lot higher. A guy that is in the gym as the same time as me even asked what I’ve been doing because I never stop moving he says.
Do you think doing this routine while restricting calories is a good thing? I’d like to drop a few pounds before the next semester.
