Hi friends!!!
Me and my gf are organising a holiday. Definately going to go to Vietnam. But need help deciding between going to either Singapore or Hong Kong.
Looking to have a look around, maybe going to a theme park etc etc.
Please help a bro out.

Haven’t been to either, but I know several people who have lived or visited Hong Kong and they all loved it. Apparently it’s ultra advanced technology wise.
I prefer Hong Kong. Singapore is a decent place but you can’t beat the HK skyline or the nightlife.
But Vietnam is going to blow of them out of the water. HCM City (they call it Saigon still) is one of my favorite places on the planet. Be sure to hit the country too though–Dalat is a nice-sized town.
Thailand sex vacation. Probably you will be surprised a couple of times, but I believe it is worth the trouble. 0-14 dollars for 2 hours? FML, that is cheap.
Not sure about Hong Kong, but Singapore is fantastic. It’s a really impressive city, clean too and the Singapore Airline was spot on with their service.

hai. i’m from singapore, been to HK once a few years back too. Singapore is a great place, clean and green. easy to travel around. shopping is pretty good. many malls to visit. there are public gyms at 2.50$ per entry pretty much at every other district. food is GREAT. come down to try the hawker food. search for “old airport road hawker” bbq-ed sambal stingray, satay, chilli crab, char kuay teow etc etc. stuff can be quite expensive in the shopping area though. theme park isn’t that great. almost everyone speaks english here, so it’ll be easy for you to communicate with the locals/vedors etc.
hk is actually kinda like singapore. good shopping and food. just that it’s bigger and perhaps not as clean. and it may be harder to converse with the locals(?) great theme parks though!
I used to go to HK a long back when I was living in China, and still go there about once a year or so.
Nature wise, don’t expect a lot. Like others have mentioned, go there to enjoy the metropolis and night life. Bewarned though, there are certain district probably wouldn’t be a good idea to bring your gf to, because HK is one of the few cities in the world that allow legal prostitution. There’s also a lot of shopping malls for name brand shopping, if you’re into that (or got the $$ for it).
The main draw for me to go there is the food. There are food choices from all over the world, all in different price range. Usually if a restaurant is good, there’ll be a lot of people eating and/or waiting. There’s a seafood harbor area where you get to buy a large variety of fresh, live seafood directly. Then they’ll deliver them to a nearby restaurant of your choosing, and you’ll be asked how you like them to be prepared when you return to the restaurant.
Hong Kong.
Singapore is FULL.

iirc they used to have a nightclub in Singapore known as the “four floors of whores”. Think it was near the Sim Lim centre. Never been to it myself, but from what the guys at work told me, the quality and price increases the higher up you go.

Singapore for “family” type stuff… good sightseeing - Santosa Island, Universal Studios, a great Zoo / botanical garden, Marina Bay Sands mega Casino… and so on a so forth…
For going out, Hong Kong wins hands down. Outstanding restaurant selection (not that Singapore’s is shabby) - regardless which cuisine you favor chances are HK serves some of the very best, best night life in Asia, Lang kwai Fung, Wanchai… Shopping is top-notch… Disneyland (I wouldnt go unless you have kids)… Ocean Park…
None of the places are cheap. For drinks, I would say Singapore is the more expensive one.

what winkel said. singapore is more family friendly. not that we don’t have a red light district and so forth. btw, no funny stuff in singapore. doing drugs can give you a long prison term/death penalty depending on the amount. we take shit seriously here.

Save Singapore for a combined trip with Malaysia.
Having been to both, I preferred Singapore by far. Wasn’t as humid, people were friendlier, it didn’t have that strange smell of rotting fish that Hong Kong has. Plus Universal Studios, and the food (especially Indian style). Fairly cheap too. Singapore all the way.

Third the opinion. If you are going to Singapore, then you might try to combine the trip to a few days in Kuala Lumpur or Penang, Malaysia. Singapore felt safer than many of cities in the U.S. I would take my family there without reservation. Hong Kong might be more fun as a couple. If you got bored, you could take a ferry to Macao for world class gaming.

Never been to HK but stayed for 4 days in Singapore. Great, and amazing place. Lot’s of young successful people and every girl there is attractive. Imagine if you took every nice and quiet Asian nerd, made them good looking, and then put them all on a small island, you would have Singapore. Also, 1/4 of the taxis are Mercedes, and everyone there speaks English. It’s a squeaky clean country. Funny story - they arrested a guy for grafitti on their subway system and his punishment was 10 lashes of the cane. Crazy.
HK’s nightlife is probably 100x better though.
