Hong Kong by a country mile, was based there for a couple of yrs, good nightlife/shopping/access to China and Macau.
Singapore is good, nice place to visit, if someone had not been to SE asia would suggest Singapore as a intro. Check out the prices to the Philipines as well, some of the best spots of all that are not overun by bogan tourists.
