Simpsons or Futurama

I have just watched a show with matt groening, and he said that the simpsons have essentially “destroyed” futurama, i.e. it was first, and fox just wants more of it… marketing etc is better.

I love both, but i have a sneaking that i prefer futurama. this may be a benign waste of time, but i am procrastanating and have given up on the cat game.

I love them both. I think there is just SO MUCH Simpsons that there are going to be a lot more mediocre shows, in spite of the fact that there are some absolutely brilliant ones, as well.

Futurama was definitely killed long before its time.

I still feel simspons is a better show, with Family guy in second. Never cared for Futurama. Maybe I’ll have to give it another chance.

watched little bits of futurama, never really liked it.
Much prefer the simpsons. Seasons 3, 4 and 5 might be my favorites.

I preferred it when they started focusing more on Homer than Bart, because I know nothing about being a smart ass little punk who’s always causing trouble.
Oh.
Well…

Huh.

Bender actually did a crossover in the last Simpsons episode… a quick cameo.

I pretty much only watch the Simpsons, if I’m going to watch TV at all. Their writing is hit and miss, but most of the time it hits… and hits good.

Networks will always give the marketing and familiarity aspect priority over any newer show… regardless of quality or not.

That being said, TV is horrible, other than the Simpsons.

I pretty much agree with you on that. But the one exception is “Arrested Development”. They don’t get the credeit they deserve mostly because the majority of people who watch FOX are stupid and don’t get the show.

… and The Daily Show, and Battlestar Galactica.

Other than that, agreed.

The Simpsons was the best show on TV for a long time, but has sucked much ass for about the last 3 years as every character just acts “WACKY” in every episode. You get the real impression that they are just flogging a dead horse and Matt Groening was much more interested in doing Futurama.

Futurama was a brilliant show, in the same vein as The Simpsons, but with more room for new ideas and above all, it had Bender.

I feel however, that Family Guy beats them both. Much more offensive and ridiculous, and you can’t beat that.

If there is an hour or so of TV that I watch a night it will always be a sindicated King of the Hill or Simpsons episode.

That being said, I believe Family Guy is awesome and try to catch it when I can.

The Simpsons will always hold a place near and dear to me.

Futurama… Sharp at times but overall I thought it was a little too dorky. And Peg Bundy’s voice still drives me up a wall whether she’s animated or otherwise.

GAINER

Simpsons had alot better base to work with. Now that we are in the 14th or whatever season they have started playing off other characters in springfield etc. Futurama really couldn’t do this, and therefore I don’t think it could have lasted that long regardless of the simpsons.

Family Guy is better than them both. Simpsons has peaked, I mean it peaked probably 4 or 5 years ago. Nowadays they try to be as zany as possible and pack more celebs in, it just doesn’t cut it for me. Futurama was taking over, it was much funnier at the end of its life than the new simpsons at the time.

Family guy though is genuinely funnier than the simpsons. It is just as zany as the zaniest simpson episode but never feels as contrived, the characters are brilliant. It contains a lot more adult humour and un-PC humour which I love. Its also funny on so many levels that you can watch it again and again and find new stuff to laugh at.

from seasons 3[1 and 2 were more of a “feeling out process”]through season 8 or 9 the simpsons [maybe even sooner as the last FEW have been pretty forgettable] the Simpsons is bar none the greatest show of all time.My girl and I fall asleep damn near every night watchin one of the 5 season DVD’s they’ve put out so far

interesting way to phrase that, SQ!

I love both. Watch them both religiously (syndicate for Futurama). But I have two words for you all…

FAMILY GUY.

Family Guy owns all.

If they would just focus more on Homer, the Simpsons would be pretty much unstoppable.

I don’t know the newer Simpsons stuff, but Futurama was better at the time, definitely. More adult themes, and that Leela chick just rocked.

Makkun

Admittedly, I never gave Futurama a chance, but love it in syndication now.

BTW-Wasn’t Bender on an episode of the Simpsons this season?

“You tried your hardest and failed miserably. The lesson is: never try.”
