There will be plenty of walking from one end of the garage to the other. LOL
Thatās awesome mate, where are you competing?
The tractor pull looked like it was on a very slippery concrete floor. Great work.
Oooh where you doing that?
Brutal and inspiring. But no, I am not going to sign up for some shit like that.
Amazing how all of that can be boiled down to 3 and a half minutes of work.
Yes, weeks and weeks of hard work and pain for less than 5 mins. Still worth it though
Amazing work dude! Love seeing the videos and reading your write up!
Iāve always wanted to try a strongman competition, especially because my gym has most strongman implements to practice on, just never feel strong enough when I read the competition weights. Inspirational stuff man!
Iām a few days late, but awesome work at the comp! Fun write up and videos.
Going to tag a few people in here to get some different ideas, but happy to hear anyone.
I need to improve my Overhead pressing numbers and my deadlift. So looking for things that have worked for you.
Programming, movement variations, accessories, equipment, body weight gain. Open to all ideas.

Lets talk Pulling and Pressing
OHP for me is very dog shit but the one thing that did help me build SOME sticking power was eye level pin presses.
Deadlifts would probably be deficits for heavy and high rep, as well as working a reaaaaally dynamic wedging start
For Deadlift I like conventional Snatch grip on a stiff bar . I donāt pull straight conventional too often but when I did, pulling like Dan Bell seemed more efficient. Feet close toes pointed out a bit, knees kind of come out rather than forward to keep the bar close and grip a little wider than the edge of the smooth to keep the upper back tight.
I donāt feel qualified to talk about deadlifts, but I can say a thing or two about the pressing.
First, I would simply say that none of you bitches do nearly enough press work. It deserves a whole day all to itself.
Second, hit them with different variations. I would ideally always do a standing variation and then a sitting variation. And for seated variations, move your fucking backrest back a little. Let all the weak people think you are doing an incline press.
Finally, if you want to do heavy pressesā¦you have to do heavy presses. Every week. I will always also do at least one set of a shitload of repping, but it just doesnāt carry over to your max nearly as well as it can with other lifts. There is no reason not to attempt your 1RM every week, it takes almost nothing out of you.
You know Iām a one trick pony for the deadlift, but itās still a good trick: ROM progression. The only thing I dislike about ROM progression is when I convince myself to stop doing it and stall what should just be guaranteed progress.
For press, if weāre talking STRICT press, I got your back, but weāre talking strongman here, and Iām garbage at getting my legs involved.
Low pin deads help remove leg drive. First hole off the floor in the rack and do heavy rack pulls from there.
Late to the game, but awesome work on that comp! Looks like a brutal event lineup, but you definitely put in some solid performance! Howās the bicep feeling?
When you do this, how are you typically laying out, sets reps, number of mats going up or down.
I have been doing a bit of pulls from height with the axle to for this contest and I found was just garbage at elevated pulls. Pretty sure I could more from the floor.
I am starting to think this too,
I like this idea, I assume pulling off a mat would be similar. Have you used paused deadlift at all ?
Bruising has mostly gone now and it feels fine. I have not trained this week so for and havenāt really felt like I wanted to. I will get in the gym today or Friday and do a little session and then back to the grind properly next week.
