Out of random curiosity, is an axle clean harder than an ordering power clean with an olympic bar? I have no access to an axle, but am intrigued by it.
Yes much harder. The thicker bar is harder to grip and the axle does not have collars so the weights donāt spin like a bar. Makes that transition from the pull to the catch much harder.
Wednesday 15 Oct - comp week
Axle block pulls
60 x 5
100 x 3
140 x 1
140 x 1
140 x 1
Easy reps just practicing set up and focusing on pulling back and getting quads involved.
Back ext
20kg - 3 sets of 8
Still some lower back tightness. This just moved some blood through.
Seated Dumbell press
20 x 25 - easy pump
And that is my last session before the comp done. Now to just eat and rest.
Go get 'em, old guy

Thanks for all the comments guys. Really looking forward to getting out there and competing again.
Just a general health update for those who were following along. I had a renal ultrasound this morning to check my kidneys. As expected my kidneys are great. Official results will go to the doctor in a few days but the lady doing to scans said that everything looked really good, no concerns at all. I kinda already knew that this would be the outcome but there is something satisfying about having someone look inside your body and tell you that everything is good.
Lift big!!
Iām sure youāve said it already but what are the events? I gather axle C&P and dead, but what else? And are those for max or reps?
Great news, now you can lift super hard for the comp and if you crap out a kidney you know youāve got a healthy spare!
Rock it Simo!
