Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries Part 2.0

Strong work. Especially with a blocked up sniffer.

Strong work, mate! Do you have a video of the fail? That’s actually gonna be the most important one for feedback. I will give you some pointers on instagram because I am low on time today and just on my phone, so a voice message is easier than typing here.

Your squats look awesome - great depth and really moving some weight.

If you’re ever interested in improving on the clean movement and really hit triple extension to get that weight to fly up, I’d suggest focusing on clean high pulls. That takes the catch out, and allows you to focus solely on the pull. That said, it’s tough. I’ve been working on these, albeit sporadically, for a few years and still am not very good at them. You’re doing what I did (and still am prone to): pulling it up with your arms and taking the legs/hip thrust power away.

Keep up the awesome work!

Always interested in improving, I am talking a lot with @Koestrizer about the clean and triple extension today. New things to work on later this week. Watch this space.

Thanks, they were solid reps I just wanted more. LOL

At least you haven’t got horrific DOMs 3 days later from 112.5kg!

I am so over this cold. Everything else feels good but its like breathing with a pillow on your face

Not really getting any doms from squatting these days, but 1 set of Bulgarians and I am wrecked. LOL

Sounds like a good time.

That’s the dream.

Well, not the second part.

Managed to tweak my neck a little on the axle overhead last night. By the end of the session it was starting to get pretty tight and after a hot shower and a restless sleep I am pretty locked up today. I wont train tonight as I have parent teacher evening at the kids school. Hopefully with a little rest and some self massage tonight I can get some sleep and it will feel a little less stiff tomorrow.

Of all the irritating things that happen working out, or even just being active…or even just driving the car sometimes…this is the worst. It comes out of nowhere and for no real reason - and then cripples you for days!

You have my sympathy.

Just catching up in here after a couple of busy weeks. Does your wife ever suggest that you might get through colds sooner if you gave your body some rest?

My wife knows me well enough to not bother suggesting such complete nonsense. :joy:

Ok

Lateral raise rear

Ab wheel (from knees)
3 sets x 10 - these hurt my whole midsection front and back

Hanging knee raise (slings)

I’m sore just thinking about it. The ab wheel is somewhat of a torture device.

It really a horrible thing. But I am going to keep at it and maybe one day I will do a rep from my feet.

If I can do an unassisted pull-up, you can do a rep from your feet. I have faith in us both. Stay strong my friend.

Nice work Simo. I noticed you mentioned using a cambered bar on Zercher’s and it didn’t look like the cambered bar I use for my goodmornings that I mentioned earlier.

These are done with the bar I like.

That bar in the video you posted is literally the same bar I was using, maybe the camera angle made it look different

Ok. Yeah in the video it looked straight. I know they make different cambered bars. :+1:
