Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries Part 2.0

The sad thing is I have done all of these things when training.

I believe it. If you do them all at once it’s the holy Trinity and legend has it you’ll morph into Kaz

I am thinking that this could be the new answer to anyone who asks why they are not progressing. Like we ask for a shoe when they ask for bodyfat. Now when they ask why they are not improving I am just going to say

How often in training do you puke, shit or bleed?

New standard question

I am laughing to myself just thinking about the look on the OP’s face when they read this question and think, what type of forum did I join.

Tuesday conditioning session.

Decided to give my back, knees and grip a rest and not do farmers today. Instead Channeling my inner @antiquity and @SvenG today and getting on the rogue echo bike.

5 min warm up - 27 cals
4 min 20/10 tabata - 48 cals
5 min steady - 30 cals
4 min 20/10 tabata - 50 cals
5 min cool down - 30 cals

Hot in the gym tonight my forearms were sweating after this. I really hate that bike.

One second… calculating to freedom units… add the 10, carry the one….

I’m getting a solid 374lbs, which is absolutely no joke for 30 total reps. I think you’ve got something real solid coming in the works! Nice job

Yep 374 for 5 sets of 6 with almost no change in speed. I will call that a good night at the gym.

Was talking daughters with @TrainForPain and @SvenG and thought this might make you smile.

So some of you may remember that back in 2021 we Fostered a puppy for the Australian Border force. These are puppy’s that live with you for about 18 months and you are responsible for their care and lots of socialization training. The actual training for sniffing and searching is completed by Border Force themselves during week long stacations for the puppies throughout the program. There are a few rules of course but it is a very rewarding process. Our last dog passed (only 50% do) and went off the Australian Army.

When the dog left the kids were pretty devastated but especially my middle daughter (the princess - now 13). My daughter pestered us for a long tome abut getting another dog but we decided we weren’t going to and instead the kids decided they wanted pet rats. Fast forward 2 and half years and dad had to take the rat to the vets on Saturday to have them put down, both old and on their last legs.
2 of the kids didn’t seem to upset and understood why we needed to have them put to sleep but middle daughter was extremely upset.

Lots of cuddles with mum and dad and she is feeling a little better. Then she quietly asks dad in a moment of weakness ā€˜maybe we could get a dog again’ Dad says that it might be OK. So princess asks mum. Mum says ā€˜no’ initially and gives all kinds of practical reasons like cost etc, but then my daughter says ā€˜We can foster another puppy for Border Force, that is free, they pay for everything’ Mum now has no logical reasons to say no.
Mum asks Dad ā€˜what do you think’, and dad whilst seeing his princesses face full of joy, says ā€˜It cant hurt to email them and see of they need any foster carers’. Secretly dad is hoping they say no.

Well mum emails them in Monday, they immediately respond and call her saying they would love to have us back in the program. They organised a house visit for tomorrow (Friday) and assuming the back yard check is a pass then it looks like we will have a new family member in about 3 weeks time. Damn that back fired hard.

Looks like we got played by our middle child again. I thought we were supposed to get better at this parent stuff.

Fantastic story!

But that’s the best part!

Very hard to say now when you are a dad, if it is something that is not harmful and will make them happy and teach the something.

Beautiful work here by junior. I swear their memories are so sharp (or we’re just getting old and forget things), they never seem to forget anything!

They are very good at remembering what suits them. They always seem to forget that I told them to do the washing up

priorites and motivations.

its the second one that drives the first one.

Not motiviated to do something? Then its priority instantly becomes Smol. Puppies seem to share this trait.

Dogs are the best, give that puppy lots of hugs for me!

Love all of it! Thanks for tagging me and I think a fantastic outcome. I’m excited for your family

I found for awhile when they were little I was just saying ā€œnoā€ as a default, and I had to have a little reckoning with myself. Why am I saying no? No harm is going to come of whatever they want and they just want to try things out. I started doing exactly the little internal cost analysis you’re describing here; really weighting everything toward yes as much as I could.
