Thursday 20th September 531 BBB - 3’s week - Deadlift and OH press

Deadlift
Warm up
Bar x 10
65 x 5
Main sets
105 x 3
120 x 3
132.5 x 3+ (Prev PR - 5 capped) - 14 reps. Bar moved pretty quick. Had to stop cause I couldn’t breath. Bloody head cold and blocked nose made this harder for sure!!

OH press
Bar x 10
47.5 x 3
55 x 3
60 x 3+ (Prev PR 11) - 14 reps, had to use legs after 9 reps, last one was barely locked out but I’m counting it.
47.5 x 8 x 5sets
SS with
Pull ups + 10kg
4 x 5sets
Shoulders and back very pumped after this lot.

Lunges
45 x 10 (each leg) x 3 sets
SS with
Dumbbell curls
10kg x 20 x 3
Shoulders were cramping just holding the bar on my shoulders. Good leg and arm pump. Managed to get through this pretty well even with my cold. Felt like spewing after deadlifts but kept on going. Still feel a bit sick now even after eating and I am fkn hot. 2 workouts to go and then it’s time to relax.

Woke at 86.2kg happy to be maintaining weight even with this bloody cold!! Body feels surprisingly good after last night session. Doing one Amrap set and no down sets on deadlifts is deff a good idea for me. Daughters last game of basketball for the year tonight and then we will all go out for pizza.
She has to move up to under 10’s. next year which will be a pretty big jump for her. She is only 7 but because she turns 8 next year she can’t play in under 8’s. She also has to move to an all girls year rather than mixed. She has a place in a new team and is quite excited about it. In under 10’s the basket also moves up from 8 feet to 10 feet. Looks like I will have to start gettting her to do some push ups every day and build her arm strength up a bit.

It’s good they make that progression versing older kids at a young age, especially when it comes time to playing kids at the same age, it’s not as daunting as you know you can handle yourself against bigger and faster players
Hope you’re feeling better as well mate :muscle:

I agree, I think it will be good for her and he skills should progress faster. I am still a bit snotty but my decision to will myself better seems to be working.

Is good with the progression in the basketball, my son did the same thing although when they moved to under 12’s they got flogged constantly because they were still 9 and 10, haha. It’s a shame they don’t continue the mixed for longer, son’s league was the same, the girls were the roughest out of the lot,

So my daughters last game of the season was an absolute blinder. She was playing against a team that they lost to earlier in the year. The team they were playing had a number of much bigger players and was all boys. My daughter is the only girl in her team and actually taller than all the boys except one. The game started as I expected with our team being a little intimidated by the bigger players and quickly going down by two baskets. Coach got into the kids and they actually responded and started playing. Got to half time only one point down 7 - 6. Second half was so close, I spoke to my daughter at half time and told her she needed to be quicker, to get back in front of the ball carrier and not let them past. In the second half she was a dragon. Stopped a handful of baskets and fought for the ball so hard she made a boy cry. I guess she really wanted to win. Our team was down by 1 point (11 - 10) with 30 secs to go and we pick up a foul on front of goal. Our smallest youngest player has the ball for 2 free shots. The buzzer sounds as he scores the first one. Now we are tied 11 - 11. As he sets up for his second shot all the mums and dads and other kids are watching intently. He throws it up and SWISH!! We win by 1 point. The kids went crazy they were so happy.
Went out for pizza after and I ate a large pepperoni to myself. #roadto100

Hey Simo wonderful description of the match, I almost hold my breath.
Congrats to the kids and the only girl especially.
My oldest has stopped at soccer but watching those kids games are so awesome and I miss it a lot.
Remember all those special moments, suddenly they are grown ups and might not play sports. So go there and support as much as you can.
