Something about putting Simo’s sausage in people’s mouths?
Friday 16th Dec - volume week 5
Squat
Bar x 10
60 x 5
80 x 3
Sleeves on
100x 2
120 x 2
Belt on
140 x 2
150 x 2
160 x 2 happy with these - solid
112.5 x 20 (248 lbs) lower back pump was horrible. 20 was my bare minimum acceptable standard for these. I was mentally struggling at 10, still had some quad soreness from leg press earlier in the week. At 15 I just counted singles and got to 20. Physically I had more than this but mentally I stopped at the minimum line. Not good enough.
RDL
140 x 3 sets - 7, 7, 7
Leg ext
55 drop set - awful
Leg curls
42 x 12 x 3 sets - 12, 12, 9
Very much done
So you did find his only fans page
Curious about this. I don’t wear my wrist wraps either, but I’ve seen some folks say it saves them elbow and shoulder pain. Did your physio give any explanation?
Now on Simo’s Sausages!
The tennis elbow pain I have is essentially pain in the forearm tendon that connects at the elbow. This tendon moves the fingers up and back as well as the wrist back and forward. The wraps were to stop me having my wrists cocked back when benching. To be honest I try to bench with my wrists straight anyway otherwise you just lose power. I think the wraps maybe helped them stay straight a tinny bit but maybe just as a reminder for me to hold them straight.
It makes sense, kinda like a belt to protect your back is really improving/ cueing your brace.
Ugh. Maybe I should wear them. I hate them, but it’s probably mostly because I’m embarrassed to put on equipment to press tiny weights. That doesn’t stop me from wearing a belt and knee sleeves on squats, though… ![]()
Shoot me a message after your next physio consult mate, I have more input for you but want to see what direction your pt wants to go for first, so that im not interfering with your treatment.
Strongman conditioning mindset challenge workout this morning.
I used my big green barrel which weighs around 41kg - 90lbs.
The workout is basically pick up the barrel and walk with it as far as you can in 10 mins, then 3 min rest and do it all again for another 10 mins. The goal is to carry it further the second time around.
I managed 18 laps (up the street) in the first 10 mins and 22 in the second.
I also managed to do 6 laps (3 x up and back) without putting the barre down. My previous time I did this I only managed 4 laps without a drop.
This was a great way to start the day.
Off to the physio now to have my elbow treated.
Is a physio what we would call a physical therapist?
Yes in Oz we shorten everything, even our range of motion ![]()
Depends on who “we” are, haha. In German there is a difference between physiotherapy and physical therapy.
What’s the difference?
To keep it short:
Physiotherapist translates to Physiotherapeut. Which just describes the job title of a health care specialist (duh, haha)
Physical therapy translates to physikalische Therapie. That describes a form of therapy consisting of physical interventions like pressure, pull, heat, cold or electricity.
Basically the latter describes things a physiotherapist might use as a form of treatment (although if he/ she is well informed, he/ she really shouldn’t that much but I digress). Limiting the first to the latter might get someone who belongs to the first a bit irritated up to angry, haha.
And to make things worse, there is a job title for people who mainly use the latter as a form of treatment in Germany. Although I’m not completely sure if you can still learn that as a trade these days - medizinischer Bademeister (literal translation: Medical pool guard; better translation: Hydro therapist) and/ or massage therapist.
Very interesting!
So we have an actual trade, in the US, of physical therapist. This person will (well, should, legally) always have a pretty difficult certification, and often a PhD, but is not a medical doctor.
They’re part of a patient’s path, and doctors will refer folks to them, but they’re totally separate from MDs.
Same here except you don’t need a referral to be treated. You can just book an appointment and away you go.
Yep, that’s what a physiotherapist is here.
Physical therapist and physiotherapist are synonyms in most (English speaking) countries.
So what you’re referring to is what I do professionally. There is just an additional distinction in our language/ country (not completely sure what’s more accurate?).
How 'bout dem arms, man? Wow! Looking swole there, @simo74.
It’s all about the arms mate, can’t let @TrainForPain have all the sexy.
Please. There’s gods and there’s men. You’re doing quite well for a mortal
Well man was made in his image
