Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries (Part 1)

I am not sure that was super, maybe super stupid !! I finished training 2 hours ago and I am still on fire, lol.

I knew you warm up for the barbell lifts, but I’m surprised and a bit impressed you don’t warm up for the dumbbell bench presses. In fact, based on your reply, I warmed up much less for mine today, and it still went well.

For me those db bench press are higher rep volume work so the risk of injury is a lot less. If I was doing db bench for max weights at 3 reps then I would probably warm up a little.

Good point. And dumbbells lend themselves to higher reps more than heavy triples or fewer.

Note to self, squatting with a sandbag when you are wearing short shorts results in the skin from you inner thighs being worn away. Did hurts a little at the time but hurts like hell when you have a shower !

I think the first few reps of a set are the warm up.

Home made belt squats for me. Did the same thing

I hadn’t thought about sets that way. Good perspective :+1:

Dude, that brought such a big smile to my face! That shout out meant a lot: very much appreciated. You earned that suffering! Incredible effort.

Your bad ideas are so good, well actually they are awful but just knowing you have been there and done it lights up a fire and makes me push through. Will definitely do this one again but next time minimum height of the tower will be 10.
Glad you appreciated it (as I knew you would), the salute is totally deserved. You are a champion.

Thanks mate, and yes the art work is pretty cool. The gym business also had a gymnastics business where my kids used to do gymnastics and that gyms also has cool superhero artwork on the walls too.

Got in a quick burpee session on Sunday afternoon. I spent the day at the waterpark with the kids which involved a lot of walking and lots of stairs. Legs and back were sore from the sandbag session so wasn’t expecting the burpees to go real well.
Decided to just get 100 done and try to keep moving with no real focus on the time. I managed to go a full 100 unbroken and ended up matching my best time of 8:20 without really trying to go fast. Looks like the tempo work I have been doing focusing on movement and breathing is really paying off.

My like was for the waterpark, not the burpees.

Both were tiring and left me soaked :joy:

Monday 28th March - week 4

Squat
Bar x 10
70 x 5
90 x 3
110 x 2
130 x 2
150 x 4 (330 lbs) RPE 9
150 x 4 RPE 9
150 x 3 RPE 10
130 x 4 RPE 7
130 x 4 RPE 8

A big build up of fatigue but I expected that to be honest. Sandbag squats on Saturday probably made it harder too.

Bulgarians
65 x 8 x 3 sets
These are equal part horrible and part quality.

Db bench press45 x 6 x 4 sets

Laying down with the dumbells on my knees and taking them back to the chest makes my back crack like seeing a chiro!! Felt good using the 45’s (99 lbs)

Pull ups
Max x 3
Reps - 10, 8, 6

Last squat session of the block and was really feeling it tonight. Had to drop back the squat weight on a couple of sets to keep the quality. Still got some honest hard work done and that is what really counts.

Agreed. I’ve had to drop some weight from my sets recently. It’s cumulative fatigue. It’s a killer. But so long as you’re giving 100% what else can you do?

Conditioning again tonight which was ……. You guessed it burpees :joy:

Working on tempo again, 37 sec on 12 sec off, 20
Rounds, 7 burpees per round. Total 140 burpees then added 10 at the end to make it 150. Legs were sore from yesterday but it felt good to move.
