Did a burpee session today. 10 - 1 pump burpees EMOM for 10 mins. Original plan was to do 20
Mins but I went out a little quick and was blowing out of my behind after 4 rounds. Changed the plan to 10 rounds. Was on fire for about 3 hours after and felt sick.
Yeah mate, 10 takes me a full minute so 10 emom is just pure burpees. I can’t keep that up.
I hear you on BSS. Its the worst DOMS ever and i never get used to them, even when i did them religiously. Due to that, im sure they are beneficial!
You are not wrong about the Bulgarians. I did two sets on Monday of 5 reps per leg with 60kg and today my arse feels like it was run over by a tank. Thank you @wiseman83 I think I hate you ![]()

These have your name all over them.
The red ones are $24
Lol the red ones look good ![]()
200 burpees today. They were slow and horrible but I got them done.
How do you do these? 200 off the bat - going slow and steady with no gaps, do you do sets of say 10-25 at a time and take a rest? Or do you start and then rest when needed?
Just interested as I should start to do more work that lasts longer then 10 minuets. And a good number if burpees i would fit the bill.
That’s a good question mate. I don’t really have a set way of doing these. I usually try and keep an even pace at the start and do the first 30-50 without stopping. Then I break it down into 10’s with a bit of a breather after each 10. I am trying to work towards being able to do 100 unbroken but haven’t managed that yet.
Thanks. It is interesting to see how people approach getting the reps in. I personally have to do EMOM otherwise I rush out the gate. Get gassed and fail. I get that worried about going slow I over compensate.
I have tried EMOM a few times and the pressure of the timer always makes me go way too hard. I did 100 - 10 emom the other day and by round 4 I was dying. Way worse that if I just did 100 as fast as I could.
@simo74 having never owned a pair of ‘lifting’ shoes, a question…
Specific lifting shoes like yours, are they just for barbell work, or ok for conditioning/elliptical/cardio too?
I currently just remove the cross-trainers and lift in socks for DL’s and Squats.
Mine are ‘gym shoes’ so have a very thin flat sole. I use them for squat, deadlift and my bench day, which incudes some sled pushing. I use normal runners for the sandbag and burpee work. Some people use a shoe with a heal for squatting but I prefer a flat shoe.
Barefoot warrior over here. Haha
Thursday 3rd March - deload
Deadlift
Bar x 10
70 x 5
110 x 3
140 x 2
160 x 1
180 x 1
140 x 5 x 3 sets
Body still beat up so kept this easier today. Focused on technique on these pulls, getting really tight and dropping into the pull. Felt good.
Bench press
Bar x 10
70 x 5
90 x 3
100 x 2
110 x 2 x 3 sets (242 lbs)
Moved a bit of weight but very low volume. Made sure these had solid pauses on all reps.
Bench supported Dumbell row
30 x 8 x 3 sets
Pull ups
BW
3 x 5 sets
Ok session tonight.
I love EMOM force it forces me to slow down precisely, usually in the form of weights or intensity, but I don’t really like it on bodyweight movements. Long sets of burpees I’ll do them like Simo
The big mistake with burpees and I make this one myself is going all out from the get go.
Pacing is key. Start them slow. Get the stomach strikes in.
Admittedly made this error a few times now.
The competitor in me comes alive as soon as I hit the floor for rep 1. Lol. But…I’m learning.
Aren’t we all @wiseman83 mate ![]()
They are primarily used for attracting the sweatiest members of the same sex.
More burpees today. Did 100 burpees, starting with 10 x 1 pumps and then working up to 10 x 10 pumps.
Total 100 burpees and 550 push ups. This was tough.
