Conditioning today was a horrible burpee ladder.
10 - 1 pump
10 - 2 pump
10 - 3 pump
10 - 4 pump
10 - 5 pump
10 - 5 pump
10 - 4 pump
10 - 3 pump
10 - 2 pump
10 - 1 pump
This is total 100 burpees and 300 push ups.

If this wasn’t horrible enough I did this ladder twice for 200 burpees and 600 push ups.
Chest was so pumped by the end, thinking I am going to be sore tomorrow :grin:

So now that you have logged something like a million burpees, I need a full listing of the benefits of burpees.

Does giving you blisters on the palm of your hand count as a benefit

That’s another one in the “minus” column.

Here are the obvious ones from limited experience

Improved conditioning
Improve recovery
Less soreness from barbell training
Feel lighter and quicker on my feet doing pretty much anything, walking, playing with the kids, washing the car. Anything that involves moving around.
No reduction in strength on my main barbel lifts
Increased muscle in the upper body ( this could just be pump but my shirts are tighter)
They are easy to do, as in you don’t need much space or any equipment.
You can get a lot out of a short session. 100 - 1 pumps in under 10 mins and you are smoked (well
I am anyway)
Increased appeal to the opposite sex.

Tonight was supposed to be a gym night but had some other things that clashed so will go to the gym tomorrow. Managed to find time to get in a quick burpee session. Just 50 x 1 pumps unbroken. I was pretty sore from the big session yesterday so it was good to move and get some blood through the muscles.

Lungs and grip going first. Good sign. I could definitely tell it was getting heavier but still moved well.

62.5 x 4 x 4 sets (138 lbs) RPE 8, 8, 7, 7

Right shoulder a little grumpy, feels like it’s in the rear delts. Third set felt more solid.

Bench supported db row
30 x 9 x 3 sets

Dips
BW + 10kg
3 sets - max
Reps - 20, 13, 12

Good session. I think the extra day off from the gym probably helped, but I will probably take that back when I go to the gym again tomorrow !!

Sooo burpees make you horny, eh? That’s some interesting observations. Although if it really was the other way around (getting the opposite/same sex horny for you), it would be a much better selling point.

It might have just been because I mentioned his mother-in-law, really not sure what conclusion we should be drawing from that.

I know most of this was said as a joke, but burpees increase conditioning and mental toughness which in turn makes me have more energy, more confidence and (as long as I don’t eat like an idiot) I will most likely recomp my body a little, so therefore look better. I would think all of these together will make me more appealing to the opposite sex. #winning

@Cyrrex funny you keep mentioning my mother in law as she is coming to stay with us for the month of March. I don’t think there will be any extra attraction but I am guessing my training volume will go up, just so I can get out of the house !!

Right knee not happy. These were tough. Fk 8 reps it’s like CrossFit ! LOL

Bench

100 x 5 x 4 sets (220 lbs) RPE 8, 7, 7, 8
Longer pauses on the first set made it harder. Rest moved ok. Right shoulder still groaning,

Pull ups

The were ok

Prowler - + 60kg
Did 12 runs with the last one being a double, so 13 really

Happy with how it went tonight. Was a little tired training two days back to back in the gym but still got all the reps with no real issues. Happy days
