You have a lot of colds mate. I wonder if it would be better to rest up and let it really heal out for once? Like no training + no work. I already know you hate the idea.
It’s called having three little germ bags (kids) who bring every germ imaginable home from school. If I look back I think I’ve only really had 2 this year which is pretty normal (I think). I love the idea of no work but it’s not going to happen for a while. I am letting my managers take time off over Xmas so it means I’ll be working as usual. No training or at least a proper deload would also be an option but my training is feeling so good right now I want to ride the wave as long as I can.
I really appreciate the concern and I am sure that you are actually right and I should listen but I’m sorry to say that I probably won’t !!
Oh well I wouldn’t listen to me as well and I am sure you knew that without me telling it to you. We all are better at giving advice than following it.
But just remember that health always comes first. Especially before work. If it isn’t your own company, then fuck em. Nobody is going to thank you for it anyway at the end of the day.
You are wise beyond your years my friend and it really is good to have someone look out for you and stand up and remind you of what’s important.
That’s flattering my friend, thanks.
Hey Rob
I’m really being inconsistent on the log section these last couple of month, it’s been a week since I was here last.
Damn you’re moving some good weights, freaking well done.
As you saw I am going to do a wendler approach again. I’ve been looking at your program and I might dissect it during the holidays and start something similar.
For how long time does your workouts last?
It depends on which session of the week I am doing, and also what week of the block. And also how much accessories you do.
Monday’s sessions are the longest, usually a little bit over 90 mins
Thursday session is the quickest usually just over 60 mins
Friday is about 75 mins.
You may find that your rests are a little shorter than mine so it could be quicker.
Thanks man.
I really would like to get my sessions done in less than an hour.
I’ll start my wendler experience and work from there.
Start there and see how you go. I think you could get mine done in an hour if you kept rests down to 2-3 mins. Your conditioning is probably better than mine.
Down to 2-3 minutes? I was thinking about moving mine up to 2 minutes. I stumbled across this post by Lee Boyce. He doesn’t give any numbers but it made me think I might be going too fast.
This sounds exactly like me man. I alway say I’m like wolverine, I’m never ill. It’s a lie.
I like Mike Israetel’s take on rest: wait till your breathing has calmed down (not to resting rate though) and then go again. That’s pretty much how I do it except before an AMRAP or AFSAP set, or during peak when I take a bit more time.
Big night of drinking at a mates Swedish Christmas party last night. Managed to get away about midnight which was 3 hours earlier that last year. Had to be up early to do the last day if kids Cricket for the year. The whisky sour I had just before I left was probably one too many!!! Feeling very dusty today.
Nothing Planned for the rest of the day so will relax and try and rehydrate.
Nothing like a scandinavian christmas party did you have heering and snaps?
Herring yes, but I stayed off the snaps. Lots of hard bread too. It was a good night.
Mort I was thinking about this question over the weekend. If you are still thinking of doing a 2 day a week training block like I was doing last year. If you look back into the blocks I sent you there is the volume and intensity blocks that were set out over 2 days a week. These sessions were shorter than my current blocks, so even with some accessory work you will be able to get it done in 1 hours for sure.
Thanks man, I’m planning on doing a 3 day schedule.
I’ve had my eyes set on the 1000% awesome for a very long time.
I’ll try it for a couple of month to see how it goes.
I’m still keeping an eye on your program, so let’s see what I’ll do.

I am going to start calling this program the magic beans program. I was up late drinking Saturday night, had a hangover on Sunday. Only got 4 hours sleep on Sunday night due to getting up early this morning to go and see the night shift before they knocked off for Christmas. I still have a bit of a cold and was very tired going into this session. I was expecting it to be a disaster.
But is was bang on, every rep hit on squats with money in the bank. I can’t believe it. Merry Christmas to me !!!
You should be man.
