Hadn’t really considered that to be honest, I tend to assume retailers want to spend the absolute minimum on people so paying for Visas and so on is unlikely, but it can’t hurt to ask I guess.
Watford is pretty close to where I grew up. I grew up in a village on the outskirts of St.Albans and when I grew up lived in (well had a house in) St.Albans. Uni in London and lived in some other places for work over the years, but St.Albans was always my base.
We have lots of UK residents who come here to work in retail and grocery and most would apply from the UK and be sponsored. It depends on what level you are at. They probably aren’t going to sponsor a checkout chick.
I’m middle management, but honestly looking to get out of retail in the next 5 years or so anyway. A lot of change coming over the next few decades that doesn’t look good for job security.
I can understand you wanting to change. If you were still considering a move down under may still be worth checking options around sponsored visas and whether any retailers do it.
I’ll certainly look into it.
We’re looking years down the line now, I wouldn’t want to move the kids at this point in their life anyway. I will certainly keep an eye on the “skilled employment” requirements though, when I comes time to change careers.
Mark you are indeed a genius young man. The good news is the osteo says my back is great. The bad news is my glutes and hips are jacked up!! She did some release work and some dry needling on my glutes. Only needled one side. I have to back next week for the other side. My glutes must be too big to do all at once !! ![]()

We’re headed to my brothers for thanks giving and I’m gonna miss the peace and quiet. It’ll be 7 adults and 8 kids under one roof!
Whats up with hips and glutes?
Nothing too serious just a lot of tightness caused from all the squatting and deadlifting. Osteo was pretty confident she can get it all moving again with some release work. I guess its just part of getting older !! I really need to spend more time doing prehab work but its always the last thing I think of.
More and more lately I find these situations very hard to deal with. At work I have over 300 staff and don’t have any issues talking in large groups or presenting. But when its all the family together the noise level is something else!! I have always struggled to focus or hear when multiple people are talking at once. Often if I go to the pub with the wife and friends , someone will talk to me and I wont hear anything they say. The wife often has to elbow me and re ask the question because I am looking blank !!!
When the family is round I just spend time with my little great nephew, he is 6 months old so very easy to have a conversation with. LOL
Consider doing more ab activation and bracing work. It takes a degree of load away from your hips and glutes because you’re more stable.
I’ve started to notice I’m doing a similar thing in large noisy groups. My missus thinks I’m starting to go deaf. It would make sense because I don’t feel antisocial, it’s just I can’t deal with all the noise.
This may be true for me too. I am pretty sure i had my hearing tested fairly recently and it was OK. But maybe its time to do it again.
I have an issue with the noise too. It fucks me hearing, for one; and just puts me on edge so my mood deteriorates pretty quickly.

Old lady thing too, can’t handle a lot of noise, unless it’s intentional like a concert or something.
My issues is that I hear too well. I hear every little thing and it overwhelms me. I get up pretty early each day just to ensure I get some peace an quiet.
I was never social, but I used to be able to tolerate loud noises, now it just annoys the hell out of me and throws me off of whatever I am doing. I’m in my 30s so maybe it starts once you get to 3 decades ha ha
