Simo - The Red Shoe Diaries (Part 1)

Woke this morning at 83.8kg, little drop was expected given I trained last night.

Woke at 84.1kg this morning and not happy with that. Did have a few salted nuts last night and a big dump after weigh in so guessing I’m still in the high 83’s really. Going to do some conditioning today, probably 10 rounds of boxing and a few push ups and some dumbel fluff. It’s a hot day today so that should help work a little water off.

Got in 10 x 2 min rounds on the heavy bag, followed by some push ups and some dumbell curls with 40lb dumbells. Worked up a great sweat and a good pec and arm pump.
Then did my meat prep for the week and grilled all my chicken on the bbq.
Went to the beach this arvo with the kids and had a bit of a swim and play in the water. Great way to cool down after training. As Ice Cube once said ‘Today was a good day’

Woke at 84.5kg what the fketty fk !?! I had a pretty good food day yesterday and trained so wasn’t expecting that. I did have some potatoe in my chicken curry for dinner so maybe those extra carbs were the cause. Grrrrrrrr

Until the end of the clip when the cops show up

Funny thing is as a teenager in the early 90’s we all loved NWA, 2 Pac, Tribe Called Quest, and the rest, now my 13 year old son is obsessed with them, haha,

Monday 18th Feb - deload week, session 1

Squat
Bar x 10
65 x 10
70 x 10 x 4 sets (154 lbs)
Ss weighted sit ups
10 x 4 sets
Still have a knot in my upper back the size of a golf ball, it really didn’t like squats. Kept rests at 60 secs, nice little quad pump.

Bench
Bar x 10
65 x 7 x 4 sets (143 lbs)
Ss band pull
20 x 4 sets
Tried to focus on bar speed but they didn’t feel as fast as I wanted.

Bulgarians
4kg per hand x 10 x 4 sets

Push up
20 x 3 sets
SS pull ups
5 x 3 sets

Good little deload session, worked up a good pump and a good sweat. All up 40 mins.
On another positive note, only 3 more days and I get my house back to myself again. Hold it together Simo just hold it together !!!

You hypertrophy block loloked fierce! The deload was timely. I’m curious to see how your gradual weight cut and higher rep ranges affect your upper-end strength.

3 more days, this seems like ages my man!
I don’t know how you’ve done it. On a better note, how’s the hot chick next door going?

Here’s the thing, the Swedish chick next door is about to go travelling around Australia for a couple of months and then back home to Sweden. My silly
Neighbour thinks his kids are old enough for them to manage without an AU pair so she may be the last one !! Looks like my will just be me myself and I in the gym from now on.

Thanks @TriednTrue it was a decent block that is for sure. The weight is coming down nicely and so far I’m not feeling to fatigued. I guess I still have enough fat to burn. I will repeat the hypertrophy block again starting next week for 4 weeks. The weights re-set, to the first week won’t be too hard but it will get tougher. Weights will go up 2.5kg so I will end up at squatting 100kg x 8 x 5 sets.
This is going to be fun !!!

I get a strange ear thing. Almost like my eardrum colapses. It like sucks in every time I breath. Terribly annoying!

And yes… high rep square suck all the wind out of you. I totally understand the nauseousness

@jackolee it seems a few of us get the same ear popping thing. I know @I_Luc gets it too.

Woke at 83.4kg (183 lbs) very happy to see the weight come down again. Hopefully I can maintain at 83 this week.

Yep, my ears drive me nuts. I think it’s partly allergies and maybe slightly high blood pressure. My ears always feel full and gross and I have to pop them alot, docs told me my ear drum is inverted sometimes, due to pressure, probably allergies. I don’t believe much in herbs and stuff but have been having aged garlic for past few weeks and my ear ringing is notably less and they feel much better.

Woke at 82.8kg this morning !!! Whaaaat. No idea where that drop came from, food was good yesterday, 210 protien, 40 carbs and 52 fat - 1700 cals. I think the drop is most likely water but given I decided not to walk and have a rest last night and I thought my hydration was good yesterday I wasn’t expecting a big drop. It will be interesting to see if it comes back up tomorrow.

Could be a little glycogen depletion.

That’s possible, I have been very low carbs for 5 weeks now. But energy levels still feel good and no obvious impact on strength or stamina yet.

Man I couldn’t do it. I drag ass when dip below 200 carbs! Glad your moving in the right direction dude

I started with a lot more fat than you. Lol

Got home from work and decided to do some boxing tonight.
10 x 2 min rounds with 30 seconds rest on the heavy bag. Followed by push ups 3 x 20 reps and dumberll hammer curls 40lbs 3 x 10 reps
My son came out and trained with me tonight, he boxed for 30 secs while I was resting and then tried to do some deadlift with one of the dumbells.
Was fun to train with him but boy was I shattered after. I think @Frank_C could be right I may be a little depleted.
We have family over for dinner tonight so are eating Indian. I think I may treat myself to a little naan bread.
