Silly Yoga Rant

Lets say you’re stranded somewhere and a rescue plane flys over but you have no way to communicate with them. Simple, the yoga babe bends herself into letters.

Also, I’ve been told by reputable sources that the amout of flatulance going on during a class from all the exertion can cause blindness, nausea, and in some cases peel paint, my wife can confirm this under oath.

X5 on the yoga pants.
I LOL’d. Some of the responses here are genuinely funny.

Anyway according to my wife yoga has applications in relaxing the body and assisting it in removing toxins. The stretches are design to target specific internal organs. For e.g. I was taught some poses to assist my pancreas to improve my Type 2 D etc. I’ve also felt exhausted hours after a yoga class (Ashtanga in this case) and slept extremely well.

Level 1 classes are easy but certainly “power” versions and variations like ashtanga and vinayasa are much more taxing.

I dig yoga. Especially Bikram. Especially when cutting weight. Especially prior to getting married, and the class was filled will so many hot, sweaty, athletic women. Yes. Yoga is good.
You are the man Beast (sorry I can’t get used to this new name haha). Boxing, powerlifting, yoga - you are quite the warrior.

Pretty hot when your girl is pretty bendy I do say so myself. Think of a car accident that people might get into. If your body is rigid you’ll have injuries. Being flexible is a great way to reduce injuries due to falls and accidents.

I have to say one thing that really grosses me out is MALE bikram yoga instructors. Like, they actually make me feel sorta like puking sometimes. I try to go once a week and almost every dude instructor I get looks like they’re barely 100lbs and they all seem so homosexual. Uhg.

I have nothing more to add.
I have a guy instructor who is actually a regular sized Dude who is straight just happens to know yoga. He’s very good and the ladies love him.

Well there you have it. Yoga is good for flaming. Surely flames can have a super hero connotation.

Not true in the case of a car accident. Awareness and bracing combined with muscle mass is a better recipe for protection.

As for increased mobility and preventing injuries in a slip or fall that would be true.

A few times. That’s why I wore the sunglasses I guess. But hey it was the 80s (yeah, it’s an old pic my friend John Carpenter took)
I have also cut my hair since then…but I still chew bubblegum.

Ha…Yeah…that does sort of look like me in my avatar!

Wait a minute…I thought MacGyver never used guns…but he’s OK with using a missile???

i sort of want to apologize on behalf of nz for the les mills (nz chain gym) fitness class phenomenon…

i do think that bodypump is much, much gayer than bodybalance, though:

(i mean the guy is alright but i bet he didn’t build that via bodypump)

anybody scared??

it is just a much much cheaper and more accessible way of getting people into exercise than needing them to get individualized instruction. the classes are a workout if you put effort into them… you do adapt pretty quickly, though.

i used to do bodybalance fairly religiously. then thought i’d get more out of doing my own thing (needed more time in some poses, didn’t seem to need others). but then i moved countries and haven’t done bodybalance for a couple months. have been much more careful about keeping up my soft tissue work…

but…

um. i’m actually taking a lay off from olympic lifting at the moment. my body kinda seized up and i can barely break parallel on my squats at the moment without losing my lumbar arch. i had a go at balance last week and… my hamstrings have shrunk. my hips are very immobile indeed… basically i learned i got a lot out of those classes. i think i need them in order for me to do olympic lifting :frowning:

I think I’ve seen ads for that at my gym…he’s wearing Wormwood Theory’s hat!

I feel the same about bodybalance as Alexus does. It kind of feels a bit cheesy and silly, but if you put some effort into it, you get a half decent stretch, which is good for those that dont like stretching. Like me.

Hey everyone, look, theres Nards again!
