Bingo. And therein lies a huge problem for the hand-wringing gay “tolerance” crowd. Watch the fuck out, cuz here comes the pedophiles saying the EXACT same things to gain acceptance. And if you want to be consistent you will have to accept them.
I have quite a bit of sympathy for people who find themselves to be pedophiles (and do not act on it). I don’t think that’s something anyone chooses to be in our culture. We would all benefit if pedophiles could easily find resources to help them deal with the challenge of having constant, strong urges that conflict with moral behavior.
I disagree that it is a logical contradiction, however: the logic includes the fact that homosexual relationships are consensual.
Most pedophiles never touch a child their whole lifetime, the people who prevent sexual child abuse first and foremost are pedophiles themselves.
Actually, most of this stuff is done by non pedophiles which is kind of a given since pedophilia is rather rare.
Well, ancient Greeks practiced what we would call at least “statuatory rape” if not “pedophilia” as a norm.
Not only in the realm of men on boy buttsex, but 14 year old girls were married to men in their 30s.
Bedrock of our civilization.
PS: Thebes had an elite corps of ultra deadly poofters, The Sacred Band.
They wielded a spear with authority and they looked fabulous doing it.
The ancient Greeks also considered women to be mostly useless and tolerated them purely because they happened to have the ability to give birth to men.
And, iirc, that’s why they liked their gay sex and pedophilia. Men were simply a better existence than women.

What makes you think that?
Oh Zeus! Why have you established in the sunlit world
This counterfeit coin, woman, to curse the human race?
If you desired to plant a mortal stock, why must
The means for this be women? A better plan would be
For men to come to your temples and put down a price
In bronze, or iron, or weight of gold, and buy their sons
In embryo, for a sum befitting each man’s wealth.
Then they could live at home like free men - without women
Euripides, Hippolytus
In totally unrelated news I am very excited about my new Samsung washing machine I paid an unreasonable amount of money for but it can wash more than 8 kgs and has more than 15 programs and an app!!!
I was making a word play on synchronized swimming with the “deep end of the pool” comment.
Well, I thought it was funny.
I know, but it was kind of a non-sequitur and how else would you have learned how giddy I am about my new washing maschine?
Well that’s true.
My washing machine I got for free because it had a broken coupler.
Fixed it for $10.
Different washing machines for different folks, lol

If being gay isn’t a conscious choice, why isn’t gayness as rampant in the animal kingdom as it is among humans? I have owned 50 some odd horses, a couple dozen dogs and 50 bazillion cats in my lifetime. Not a single one of them was gay. I did have a bearded dragon once that I’m not too sure about. Bear in mind that I have never checked youtube for gay animal videos.
This guy watched 50 bazillion cats mate. Sounds like fun.
P.S. I check youtube for gay animal vids pretty much daily. Highly recommended.
A lot of good points in this thread. I never realized supporting gay people was logically equivalent to supporting pedos.
But what about the original article? Is body building gay or not? I need to know. Please.
Maybe it, the science, will come. Maybe not. If not, what will you* do? Continue to beat folks like me over the head with the “Someday” bat? The “Just Accept it and Move On” club? Will you attempt to crush the opposition as per the Global Warming crowd? Will you try and win the debate with sheer noise?
the proverbial “you”
I’m certainly one who respects the right of everyone to have an opinion, and disagreement doesn’t equate to bigotry in my book. There is a radical element to the GSM (gender and sexual minority) community that certainly wants to crush the opposition, going so far as to punish the church or force acceptance to a point that I don’t support (e.g., punishing private businesses with legitimate religious objections). However, I tend to believe there is a middle ground here where we can work to respect religious freedoms, while still giving some equal legal rights to gays and lesbians.
Personally, I tend to believe that sexual orientation, of any variety (assuming the possibility of some fluidity), isn’t inherently genetic, but rather influenced by a complex set of pre and post-natal influences, but also that it isn’t much of a choice for 99% of the population, but that’s just me - I certainly could be wrong too.

Separation of church and state?
Legally, gay marriage is allowed. But the state cannot force churches to officiate gay marriage ceremonies or have anything to do with it in general.
And if a gay couple wants to have their marriage officiated by a church… tough fucking luck.

It’s ballsy to conform, huh Pony? Really?
Push,
Is it really conforming? I’m sure a lot of people chose not to “conform” when Galileo pointed out that we are not the center of the universe. The flat earth society still exists, they did not “conform” either. Being stupid and wrong is not noble, it isn’t you drawing a line in the sand, it’s just willful ignorance. If choosing stupid is “ballsy” you my friend are going to need much bigger pants.
