Just speculation on my part, but it might take a little bit for him to become one of the gang. A little play time, a couple of walks, stuff like that. Pack behavior that reinforces their sense of belonging.
Yeah, I think you are correct. Right now, he pretty much just ignores the other dogs and follows me around. One of my cats booped him on the head, and he chased the cat. The OTHER cat charged him to protect the first cat. The dog just turned around and came back to sit next to me. I had to yell at the second cat to stop chasing him.
Welcome Riley!
I was really nervous about adopting Riley last week. He’s been adopted 3 times previously. He’s bigger than my dogs, and I have cats. I had no idea what I was getting into, but I couldn’t just
know they were going to put him to sleep. Well, he’s fitting in just fine
That is really great. He’s happy and having fun!
Our dog, who I thought was going to pass on several weeks ago, as I wrote here, made a surprising comeback.
Another memory of eleven years ago of us came up on my FB feed today, showing me in a chubby, permabulked condition.
Picture from 2013 came up as FB memory this morning.
Update: We had to let her go last night. It seems she developed an ulcer on her eye in just a day. Her rear legs were crippled and the front ones were unstable. She had terminal ear disease, and I strongly suspect she had kidney disease. It was just too much already.
I’m sorry, man. That’s never easy.
My condolences.
Thank you! @SkyzykS
So sorry to hear this.
Very handsome indeed! Looks very serious too.
@BrickHead, I’m sorry for your loss. They leave so much empty space behind. How are the kids doing?
Louie sprang into this chair, landing thusly on the husband, who has fortunately fallen in love with the big lug. Happy Father’s Day to all you pet dads!
Thank you! The kids are alright now. They were upset on Friday night. My wife and I have been bummed since Friday. Abby lived eighteen years and my wife had her before we met. She lived with us for fifteen years. She would go batshit crazy, even howl like a wolf, when my mom and grandma would visit the apartment we lived in. I don’t want to jam up the thread too much with photos of our dog, but these were so freaking cute and funny.
