Should He Stand?

I assumed since vets understand and respect his they didn’t care about his actions seems like I was way off.

I would still rather have him playing than some trash qb.

Here’s the thing: if he chose to address the issues, the real issues, intelligently and with a more healing and less accusative tone, he would have a better public presence than he has now to spread that message. But since he chose symbolism and a divisive message he is limited to social media. It really seems that most of these so called civil rights activists learned nothing from MLK. He actually got things done. But by today’s standards, he would be a sellout and a coon.

I would rather lose our football team to another city, again, then have him play here (Baltimore).

Damn. Did I miss this?

It’s because they use up all the sugar.

neither did I, yet here we are

We had a kid on my high school hockey team who would eat all the sugar packets from wherever we stopped to grab food after games when we traveled. All the sugar packets is not an exaggeration. He now designs plane engines or some shit for Boeing. Buckle up buckaroo…

Yep. I still believe MLK could get things done. He wouldn’t go around calling people names and then supporting the likes of Castro in the same breath talking about ‘American oppression’. I mean, we’re far from perfect and all, but light-years ahead of Castro.
Yeah, the Castro thing was that big a deal… The guy murdered thousands, for disagreeing with him.

And impoverished those who did - so, all around great guy. Lovely family.

Off topic but since your a military member I wanted to ask. I didn’t feel like creating another thread

What would happen if we just left the Middle East. Took troops out and just stopped bombing the countries.

Also how do most of the civilians feel about the US military presence in the countries you have been in.are most happy that you are actually fighting the terrorist groups or do they just want you guys to leave.

Any other veteran in here reply as well @anon50325502

A power struggle/vacuum, re-emergence of an ISIS/AQI like group, lots of death. The usual for the ME.

(I am currently a federal agent assigned to a mixed military unit, I am not active duty). I work for a USG agency.

In my personal experience, I have been hated and liked. You have to remember, its not the troops they love so much, its the American dollar they cannot live without. Take Afghanistan, the most corrupt, despicable society I have ever been around. We pull out, their government collapses, because every Afghan politician, businessmen, shop keeper, goat herder, poppy grower, and any member of the ANA/ ANP only live to steal as much tax money as they can.

Did you know that every military and police member 's salary and RETIREMENT is paid for with you tax money? They never want us to leave, how could they afford their million dollar estates in San Francisco and Boston?

One thing you need to understand. We do very little fighting. Killing the “terrorist” is a very low priority. We just fill a vacuum, so, the corrupt Afghan politicians can commit their crimes in relative safety.

Same in Iraq, corrupt government, corrupt society, live only to steal the American tax money. We are being bled to death by them and our own politicians. American is the world’s whore when it comes to money, we allow everyone to fuck us over. Meanwhile our own country’s infrastructure is crumbling, our rights are being eroded and our politicians care nothing about their own people. We have wasted billions in Iraq / Afghanistan. For what? Absolutly nothing.

Let me give you an example: I spent a year searching, finding, and destroying poppy fields and one rare occasions, was allowed to hunt down and kill a drug lord. We were good at our job, too good, got shut down because, it " was upsetting the locals" . The International Narcotics and Law Enforcement ( INL) an arm of the State Department, spent a total of 8 BILLION dollars of tax payer money on the drug trade. Lat year was the highest recorded poppy production in Afghan history. A total and complete failure.

Don’t you think 8 billion would be better spent on AMERICAN problems?

You want to educate yourself on the total failure of the American government? Go to this website and read their quarterly reports to Congress.

correct, but, IMHO, it will never, ever, change, not, as long as one Sunni and Shitte are alive.

Yup, it would be a terrorist monster.
They may hate us for being there, but the countless lives saved by our presence means something. If anybody was going to pull out it would have been Obama. But given the success of his premature pull out in Iraq, there was no way he was going to make that mistake again.

Curious why you think it was a mistake? Because ISIS exists?

AQI was basically obliterate pre-withdraw (planned under Bush iirc), which left the door wide open for Zarqawi (who was a giant piece of shit and is worm food now) and ISIS.

What could have been done instead I think is hard to say. I think it was a mistake, but it’s hard to blame him for the withdraw.

ISIS is a part of it, but they didn’t exist because of the big hole we left. The Iraqi government wasn’t ready and every adviser on both sides of the isle wanted a more secure Iraq before we pulled out.
ISIS was able to take Fallujah with almost no resistance, but they weren’t the only terrorist group to plant their flag, just the biggest.
With in 2 years we were back fighting for territory we already spilled blood for. To have to take it back again is an insult to the sacrifice so many made to secure it.

Whether or not you’re for the war itself is one thing, but I think we can all agree we don’t want to refight a war we already fought.
