People claim metformin extends life expectancy for everyone, not only diabetics. PPAR alpha and gamma agonists seem to address this better. Are there downsides to taking these independently of cholesterol or insulin status?
PPAR agonists are some of the most side serious effect ridden drugs in regular use I know.
Pioglitazone and Rosiglitazone both for diabetes are a problem as they increase weight/fat storage and therefore make the situation worse. Also they have been associated with CHF and bladder cancer, though some have been pulled back. Then there’s the problem of liver toxicity.
PPAR receptors are no joke. Cardarine is cancerogenic, the PPAR alpha agonists are also hepatotoxic and have an increased risk of cancer as side effect.
So no, don’t take them if not absolutely needed.
Metformin is healthier?
Yes, significantly less dangerous. There’s a reason it is first choice for type 2 diabetes with miles in between metformin and everything else
