Shot at on the Golf Course

So some dickhead kids take a shot at this guy’s buddy with a pellet gun, and everyone here screams “sue the golf course?” How the fuck is it the course’s responsibility to control two little assholes?

This is America.

He and I talked and he doesn’t want to sue anyone he just wants his medical CO-PAY taken care of, no damages, no distress nothing. Which IMO if I were the owner of the course $150 is an easy buy out to keep from any negative press. At this point I have not talked about this to any of the 3-4 other members I know but I know if I do, it would spread like crazy causing members drop their memberships. Which isn’t fair to the course but I almost feel obligated to do so, it’s a safety issue.

Then he should pay it. It is not the Golf Course’s fault and you should not hold them for ransom. Your friend should take the hit like a man and not pass it off onto somebody that had nothing to do with it.

The reason for such a ghetto course was they have 5 courses, 4 of which are considerably further away, they have a kick ass gym on the property that almost no one uses and for $450 a year it was a steal, know I know why.
[/quote]

WTF? The gym was a real steal because they (the gym owners) know that you will be shot at by a bunch of punks kids? That is B.S.

Go cry somewhere else.

The owner said the problems with the kids was a known problem. This means they knew kids were causing trouble. It’s their golf course. It’s reasonable to assume you will not be shot while playing on their golf course. It was their responsibility to stop the kids, or to at least warn members they could be targets. Therefore, the owner had a lot to do with it and should pay the guy’s co-pay.

Also…I thought the title of this thread was Shat on at the Golf Course, which would have made for a more interesting read.

The $150 really isn’t their responsibility either. If the owner does pay it, then he’s basically admitting that he is in some way liable for the damages incurred, which would look bad in court. Even if your buddy promises not to sue, it’s not like the course owner can risk his business on someone’s word, especially these days.

As for telling other members: What other people do with the information you give them is on them. If they choose to cancel their memberships then so be it.

I’m finishing up school in Warrensburg and have a bunch of family in Lee’s Summit. Funny thing is my parents’ snobby friends in Overland Park have been saying Grandview is turning into a ghetto for years. Guess they could be right.

You all should just go up there again. This time after you pay for a round of golf just tell everyone to leave. See how long it takes for you to get kicked off…If you have a lot of juice in your golf cart it could make for a very fun afternoon. Wear helmets though in case the kids come back.

This could have happened at any golf course. I have heard of a similar story happen at a private golf course (membership 40 grand/year i think). Kids where hiding in the bush, golfer got shot after tee-off, in the ass. The kids were able to run away also. Your story is definitely worse, shooting somebody in the head multiple times is messed up.

Also, you don’t beat the shit out of little kids, as someone here suggested.

“Causing trouble” and shooting at people are two entirely different things.

Agreed. Kind of.

Causing trouble does not equal shooting someone, but shooting someone = causing trouble.

I do not understand why the cops can not catch them, it is their job. After all the Golf Course says this is a serial event

He’s the only description I was able to give, 2 black males 13-17 years old, white tee shirts and tan shorts. And I quote the police officer who I gave the report to “yea, in this neighborhood that’s the summer uniform”.

I’m done with this, no one is getting sued, I’m going to tell the couple of members who I’m friends with off the course and not go back. I got something heavy to lift, later.

Yeah, bad choice of words on my part.

If you’re referring to my post, I was advocating suing the parents of the little bastards, not the golf course. I fail to see how they could possibly be held responsible, unless the little pricks were employees.

What are they going to do when some one shoots the Kids that have the BB guns, with a real gun?

Parents are a scarce commodity among the urban poor, who live in bad neighborhoods.

There’s nothing you can do, except be glad that no one put an eye out.

I would of chased them down and smashed their heads in, its the ghetto, no one cares

A funeral is usually the right way to go.
