Sherlock Holmes

I saw the movie last night and it was good. Downey and Law do a great job together as Holmes and Watson. I haven’t ever thought of Holmes being an action hero or how ever you want to coin it, but Guy Richie’s spin on the character nad Downeys portrayal of him makes it pretty refreshing. There’s a lot of humor and a couple of ‘I didn’t see that coming’ twists.

The ending leaves you pretty sure that there’s going to be a second.

What I had problems with: Watson has a gambling problem and Holmes is an alcoholic so therefore Guy Richie is saying that white people are addicted to booze and gambling. And since the two are pretty close associates, he’s also saying all white guys have latent homosexual feelings for their friends. And the women in the movie all have nice teeth, so it’s obviously a slight against Enlish people for having bad teeth. Obviously this is where the movie becomes unbelieveable because we all know English people have bad teeth.
Also, there’s some experimenting with animals, so it’s obvious that Guy Richie hates animals…in particular dogs and wishes them all death. It’s also apparent in the movie that he’s a hard core Christian and believes that white people will vanguish the evil in the world. So I guess Guy Richie is saying that white people are addicted to gambling and alcohol and have latent homosexual feelings for their male friends and will eventually vanguish the evil in the world.

Well duh.

But on a serious note, I agree, that movie exceeded my expectations. The banter between Holmes and Watson kept me laughing the entire movie. Definitely worth your time.
