GL with the exam bro. Mine are long gone. We all be enjoying the holidays up in hurr.

Yess, he’s back. Kill the exams, then sfw!

My exams are all over and done with since Mid May so I know dat feel bro. If you approach the exams in the same manner you would a heavy set of squats you should be fine. Although you would probably want to grunt and shout less in the exam… Good luck anyway brosephine!

Thanks guys.

It went okay. At first I thought it went great, but after talking to another guy I realized I made a pretty big mistake. That’s kinda annoying since it was just stupidity.

Cycle 3 Week 1 Squat

Hammer Curls
8kg x 10
12kg x 10
16kg x 10
18kg x 10
22kg x 8 PR

Squat
20kg x 8
50kg x 5
80kg x 5
100kg x 3
120kg x 3
137.5kg x 3
155kg x 2 (Was supposed to get 3)
Really lousy. Felt like my sore calves were holding me back so no more training calves before squats. To make my ego feel better I took the biggest bands I could find and wrapped them around the top of the rack and did
155kg x 3
180kg x 3
200kg x 1
Not really sure how much weight the bands took of but I’m guessing at least 50kg in the bottom. Walking out the bar was pretty tough though. I have some large skinless spots on my back atm.

Walking Lunges
3 x 22kg x 16 steps

Trap Bar Dead
60kg x 10
90kg x 6
120kg x 5
150kg x 5 PR
The handles aren’t really good so I had to reset my grip between every rep.

Pulldown Abs
“30” x 12
“40” x 12
“50” x 4 drop
“40” x 8
Really nice. I need to do more of these.

Not pleased with this workout at all. Squatting felt terrible. I did 150kg x 5 back in March. Spinning my wheels FTL.
Combined with my exam stupidity yesterday it’s been two bad days. I almost hope I fail the exam so I can be less stupid. Unfortunately that won’t happen since every other assignment went great. Oh well.

On the bright side, you just walked out with 200kg on your back and survived!

And even your frustrating workouts have PRs.

I’m thinking the bands took a bit of at the top. But definitely a walkout PR.

In retrospect it probably wasn’t that bad. I’m just frustrated at how heavy squats/deads have been feeling for a while.

Don’t sweat the exam stuff, you just gotta live and learn. Looks like a solid training session to me, gains were made, thats all that matters. If you keep putting the work in results will follow bro!

Yeah pretty cool to get used to more weight on your back, I might have to do some partials/andersons for the same reason as I don’t really like the change in groove/strength curve bands give as it doesn’t really transfer to raw lifts.

@phlegms: I’m not sweating it too much. Just annoying me since I thought the exam was pretty easy and I finished with 30 minutes left. I’ll just claim momentary insanity.

@Jake: Yeah the feeling is a bit weird. With the partial you wouldn’t get to walk the weight out though. I don’t know if they’re useless for raw lifts. The amount of band tension I used today probably is, but it seems like Meat likes to do reverse band and he’s a beast.

With exceptions of top tier raw strength guys who have already taken it far without such things. The idea of me using bands etc. with a sub 250 bench and sub 400 squat is just hilarious to me. You make a point about the walk out but I’d rather just do literal walkouts. Definitely not ehating though, I love trying random stuff every now and again as much as the next guy!

I’m definitely not planning to use bands often. It was just since the regular sets sucked so I wanted to try it.

I really need to get my squatting game back on. I’ve been watching one of my older videos where I was using a wider stance so I’ll go back to that. My squats that day were the best ever.

Just wanted to say that your training log name is awesome x 1,000+

Also, looks like some solid work goes on in here too!

Thank you. If only I had been creative enough to come up with it myself.

Cycle 3 Week 1 Press

I’m gonna start doing deadlift and press together so I’ll only be doing 3 days a week. But since I’ve already done this weeks 5-3-1 for DL I just played it by feel.

Deadlift
2 x 60kg x 5
2 x 90kg x 3
120kg x 3
140kg x 3
160kg x 1
170kg x 1
180kg x 1
185kg x 1
190kg x 1 PR
Boom! I widened my stance after h4m’s comments to Aqua’s video, so my feet were almost touching the plates. That made the pulls feel so great.

Clean and Press
20kg x 10
30kg x 5
40kg x 3
42.5kg x 3
47.5kg x 3
52.5kg x 3
55kg x 3 PR
60kg x 1 Clean PR
Cleaning the bar first actually felt pretty good. I need to bring my OL-shoes for this day though, because I’m quite sure the cleaning was very ugly. The last rep was pretty Jab-ish

Walking Lunges
2 x 22kg x 30 steps PR
22kg x 20 steps
These must qualify as weighted carries. My hands, forearm, traps etc were burning from holding onto the DB’s and my heart was pounding.

Hammer Curl
12kg x 10
3 x 16kg x 10

Really awesome workout. Quite surprised with how strong the deadlifting was. Especially since my glutes were sore from yesterday.

Fucking awesome session dude, way to kill it!

Deadlift and press is one of my favourite combos, just feels so badass.

Nice PRs! Deadlift PR always always feels good.

Kill.Ing.It.

Thank you guys.

Cycle 3 Week 2 Squat

Squat
20kg x 8
50kg x 5
80kg x 5
100kg x 5
112.5kg x 5
130kg x 5
145kg x 5
Decent today. Form was a bit inconsistent since I’m back at flat shoes.

V-Grip Pull Ups
bw x 5
2 x bw x 8
bw x 7
Lol. I am so bad at back.

Dips
bw x 10
2 x +20kg x 10
+20kg x 9

Ab Pulldown
“40” x 13
“40” x 12
“40” x 10
I played a bit around with my stance and found a sweet spot towards the end.

Tomorrow with be a oral calculus examination. That should give me just enough time to watch England - France.
