The Strangers looks good!

it says it is based on a true story. Does anyone know the true story it is based on?

From wiki:

The film begins with a voiceover stating:

"The film you are about to see is inspired by true events. According to the F.B.I. there are an estimated 1.4 million violent crimes in America each year. On the night of February 11, 2005 Kristen McKay and James Hoyt went to a friend's wedding reception and returned to the Hoyt family's summer home. The brutal events that took place there are still not entirely known."

I saw the trailer for that as well. It looks like it could be good, but I like cheesy horror too, so what the fuck do I know.

Yeah, I saw the trailer and it actually looked scary to me, but masks freak me out.
The masks wig me out and they also seem calm and methodical in the previews I’ve seen. That freaks me out more than a screaming angry person.

I know what you mean. The psychopath who is focused and in control is much scarier than the guy who is just plain nuts.

All I know is that in one of the previews, I saw the character playing James Hoyt with a shotgun, while “The Strangers” were armed with only an axe.

If you have a shotgun, and the soft-spoken mask people only have an axe, you officially suck at life if you’re not quickly cleaning up mask-people brain-matter in about 35 seconds.

Hahaha…that reminds me of that scene from Hollywood Shuffle where they complain that the ‘Dirty Harry’ character was able to subdue a group of men that had a gun, a knife and a bat, where he had no weapons.

“We give this movie the finger.”

EDIT: Found a link of that scene on youtube. My memory of it was way off.

Reading this thread made me think of this for some reason…
OctoberGirl wrote:
But for the single guys, this should be the easiest movie audience for guys to hit on. Think of that movie, it is desperate women who are so needy they blame their being single on men. Those women would roll over for anything.
Here’s my take on this:

Carry is like Jerry Seinfeld; She dumps every guy, nice or asshole, who likes her for some ridiculous, inane reason.

The difference: Jerry ends up alone and in prison, Carry ends up marrying the rich, handsome love of her life.

I wouldn’t hit on an obvious Sex and the City fan if you payed me.]
Ok… so maybe if you payed me. Otherwise, no.

Wow…the subject matter has changed. Gabby is hitting on my girl, October(which I will put to an end). And now everyone is talking about the Strangers movie.

I’ve seen it and I’m a horror movie fan. I liked it. All of it seemed plausible and understandable. They made a few dumb ass calls , but it is good. Go see it. I’m taking OctoberGirl and then we’re getting Red Lobster. Also, the pic is for you Gabby.

Well I have a $25 gift card for Red Lobster. So what are you going to do? Want to arm wrestle me for it?

My wife saw it today and said it sucked:
poor acting
crappy plotlines
frigid, narcissistic shrews of women.

One part of the plot that involved that ugly red-headed dyke had her not having sex with her husband for six months and then telling him to hurry up when they finally did it. Then he cheated, and the rest of the story was about how incredulous and hurt she felt or whatever, never acknowledging her obvious neglect of him.

Oh, and my wife said the men in the movie had no balls.

You’re on!! Here are a few rules:

 1. No using the force
 2. No Jedi Mind tricks
 3. I’m allowed to watch “Over the Top” before we start round

If I can get those three rules to fly, it’s all good.

Winner takes it all, loser takes a fall. OVER THE TOP!

I accept your terms.

However, you think you have the advantage by taking away my Force abilities and watching bad Stallone movies, but you seem to have forgotten that I have cybernetic limbs.

Damn. Well, you may have cybernetic limbs…but I have a hat. A hat that I turn backwards when shit gets serious. And whatever I grip my hands around, I bring down.

Trying to tempt my woman with the cheddar biscuits. Nice move. To show how much you suck here is a random pic.

I guess I wasn’t the only one watching The boondocks last night.

I haven’t caught the Boondocks in a while, but I know which episode you are talking about:

Regular cable. I forgot which station because my DVR just records it whenever. Plus, I have season 1 on DVD.

That show caught a lot of flack when it first came out…much more than the creator’s comic strip ever did. Sharpton was especially pissed at the Martin Luther King episode…which is probably one of the best ones they ever made.
