Seriously, F the Police

Also, once you get a lawyer on your side and report the beating with him/her to the correct party within the police department, it can then be resolved criminally or civilly.

And how big of a city do you live in? Are there a lot of police stations? I highly doubt that if you walk into one to report the beating, the officers will be like in their head “Oh it’s this angrychicken guy! I beat his ass with my friends 4x in the past 10 years! Time to beat his ass some more for trying to report us!”. Because that seems highly unlikely that 1) the PO that beat you is in that dept, and 2) if you get pulled over in the future, the cop will recognize you or your name and give you an ass whooping. Chances are, he/she will be from another district and won’t have a fucking clue who you are.

When was it said that cops are unnecessary in society?
pssst. don’t interrupt him. he’s building a strawman

well not reporting it isn’t going to do shit. With that mentality you certainly aren’t helping the situation. Reporting the supposed police brutality you saw can very well do some good, regardless of how pissed off you are about cops and the department.

edit: Chicago Cops get fucked all the time for getting reported.
So let me get this straight: You want ME to go walk into a police station populated by a bunch of assholes who have kicked my ass for fun on FOUR occasions in the past ten years and give them ALL OF MY INFORMATION? And then give them a REASON to kick my ass?

Keep in mind I’m a felon and I don’t have any badge numbers…

ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?
you don’t have to report directly to the police department. there are other sources.

don’t be so naive, someone out there will listen to you. take the time to do it instead of “oh another beating, oh well”

edit: i.e. try to obtain the police officer’s name and badge #. this shouldn’t be hard. Then write down what happened as soon as you can, and in as much detail as you can. Take pictures if there are physical signs of abuse on your body, making sure to take whole body pictures as well so they know it’s you. Hire a good attorney, and he can take the necessary steps. you’re not living in reality. if you read an earlier post from me, I outlined quite clearly how the Philadelphia PD was making it particularly difficult to make such reports. It was even covered in a series of articles in the Philadelphia Daily News.

What planet do some of you live on?

Can you at least acknowledge that things might get done differently in the cities?

Oh, Illinois. I’m guessing not Chicago.

Things work differently here on the east coast.

Oh what does today’s big city headline bring? Tampering? Police COVER-UP? A felony resulting in just a transfer?

And let’s not forget the paid for perjury in drug cases that set many drug dealers free:

http://www.philly.com/philly/hot_topics/39874487.html

And of course before that we had the squad that was robbing bodega owners under the guise of paraphernalia crimes.

IS THIS MY 1.8% OF BAD COPS AT WORK??

OR IS THIS A FUCKING INSTITUTION IN NEED OF A FUCKING ENEMA? ALONG WITH ITS UNION WHICH PROTECTS IT AND FIGHTS FOR THE JOBS OF ALLEGED CRIMINALS?

Oh, I’m sure Philly sucks. They’d do better recruiting from, preferably, outside of the state much less the city.

Why is that if the institution itself is corrupt? You’d have to start over fresh. That’s not going to happen. The corruption, attitude and ineptitude is embedded. Ever hear the expression “when in Rome”? Well, even if a guy has good intentions (and I’m sure many do) they still have to LIVE and WORK alongside the assholes.

Back to my earlier point and I haven’t heard one LEO apologist pick up the ball on this one; given that the power to police involves the HIGHEST public trust, why not institute a CODE OF HONOR similar to that of our military schools? A guy breaks the law and you’re aware and do not report, YOU lose your job too.

Listen, my provocative title aside, I’ve already stated in so many words the position should be exalted, but it needs an overhaul. It needs better pay, more stringent entrance requirements, training and evaluation. Make it a white collar job, give it white collar pay and hold them to the STRICTEST STANDARDS OF CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT. Get rid of the unions. That will restore public trust and be a huge step in the RIGHT direction.

Raise my fucking taxes, I don’t care. At least it will be meaningfully spent. I want my LEO to be unfailingly polite, professional, trained and incorruptible. It’s not a lot to ask…b/c it’s a lot of power.

After reading that I share his sentiments.

But shouldn’t we be comforted in the fact that that cocksucker only represents a very small percentage of total officers??? I mean fuck it. One less little girl in the world. One or more (but just a small percentage) of innocent people behind bars. A bad shooting here or there. A beating once in a while. I mean damn it, we cannot expect a fucking standard here!

And this guy, wielding the highest power like his billy club, is subject to what discipline? A girl lost her life b/c of his ineptitude. I bet he’s still on the force.

We should be thankful!!!

I made it three and a half paragraphs in - this guy is clearly insane.

And that’s not a blog I would point anyone to and say “here, this is a reasoned, informed citizen addressing specific incidents of police corruption.” This is a pyscho disliking “spics, pigs and queers.”

Fuck him, too.

We don’t need to kill cops - just the institution which allows/protects/engenders corruption.

Fix the system. Help cops be the heroes.

That doesn’t change the fact that a cop pulled a mother over who was driving her girl to the hospital, didn’t provide and escort, didn’t help in any way shape or form, just detained the mother and the daughter until the girl DIED. Wasn’t charged with anything. Just suspended.

How would you get rid of a union anyways?

Or could the union be changed, rules and regulations and all that?

Well, I’m all about getting rid of Unions, anyways.

I feel pretty lucky that I live in Australia after watching crap like this.

Most of our LEOs over here are pretty professional and polite. The biggest problem I have actually, is the female cops. I’m sure there are good ones out there, but I haven’t met them. Seems every one I’ve had to deal with is a bulldyke with a huge chip on her shoulder and demands you obey her authority.

I wish psyche testing was a little more thorough in screening out people with deep insecurities. Our Army is efficient enough at doing this during the recruitment process, I don’t see why police can’t manage the same.

Absolutely not. And that is a story that needs to be given a metric ton of attention - but having this guy put it out there pollutes the responsibility of watching the watchmen with unnecessary racism and hate.

I also hope the cop in question gets an exceptionally painful and humiliating disease.
