UPDATE

Still cruising along at 192.5 ish. The scale hasn’t moved in the last few days, but I’m not that surprised and still looking and feeling a bit better every day. I have about six more weeks until Spring Break. If I just keep doing what I’m doing every day, I’ll get into pool contest winning shape in that much time.

Then the goal will be to keep doing what I did. Forever, if possible.

No training today, I had a big meeting this morning that threw off my schedule. Not a big deal, I take days off here and there.

I might go down to The Studio to throw the iron clubs around a bit if the mood strikes me.

My wife was giving me shit for being a weird eater. She’s old school and likes to make a family dinner every night. I usually go with whatever she makes, we generally eat pretty healthy around here. But tonight, she was going with lasagna that one of our neighbors sent down. I had a huge lunch today, so I had some protein concrete instead.

So she was telling me I should eat some real food. Which made me think about lasagna. What the fuck is more real about lasagna? Doesn’t it start out as flour? So it’s a white powder, just like my protein powder? Doesn’t flour start out as a plant? Protein powder starts off as a cow. In my case, about 20% of it starts out as an egg. Or a chicken, depending on which one you think came first. Either way…how did my chicken and egg and cow come to be? By eating your plant food. So I’m eating what ate what you’re eating. Who’s eating real food now?

My macros are averaging about 46/37/17 (C/P/F).
Calories are at about 2400. I’ve been tracking things with as much precision as ever these days.

The trend seems to indicate that I should be eating 3 manly meals per day, flexibly dieting, and letting my instincts guide my intake.

That shit doesn’t work for me.

I need to obsess about the details a little bit. I’m pretty good at doing it quickly and behind the scenes, so it’s not like it impedes on my enjoyment of life. But yeah, I get a little crazy about this shit.

So I’m keeping my Lose It bars green in my bar graph for as many days as I possibly can. Restricting fat seems to be what works best for me. I’m only about 10 days into these macros, but so far, I don’t think I’ve died of vitamin deficiency and I haven’t stopped menstruating yet. I think I’m gonna be okay.

Have to laugh at your anecdote re: the lasagna. I’m blessed to have a fiancée that shares my Paleo-ish beliefs about eating (with our occasional allowance for a treat every so often, of course) but have often ended up feeling that way at things like work events or banquets or luncheons…often at some of our early morning events there’s a breakfast that has bacon, fruit, and some breakfast sandwiches. Invariably, I load the plate with a bunch of bacon and a pile of strawberries, and someone comments on it.

Wow, ten days since last post. Even when I’m trying, I can’t seem to get in here with much consistency.

Most important thing - I’m still crushing it and still logging everything in Lose It.

Last week, I was on the road for 5 days and did not do the best job sticking to my planned macros. The early parts of the day were good, but towards the end of the week, things started to unravel a bit. Had some really good restaurant meals, though. Didn’t go too crazy on the booze, which was helpful. Lately, I’m either on-stage or on the hook to perform in some other way, so I can’t really afford the late nights anymore. It’s a good thing, for sure.

Workouts have been consistent. I missed about 2 days of the last 10. I had a great session at home with the iron club over the weekend. I’ve been reducing the frequency of some of the body weight work lately, and I seem much stronger. I’m probably not actually stronger, I’m just more completely recovered when I attempt these movements since I’m not trying them every day. Not rocket science.

My targets this week for macros:
Goal: 200g P, 200g C, 60g F.
Max: 250g P, 250g C, 60g F

That’s a goal of only 2140 calories. Obviously pretty low, but I still feel like I’ve got some work to do before I have the cushion I need going into this vacation in about 5 weeks.

Serge - do you make your own Ezekiel bread or just store bought mate?

Been researching a few recipes online including sprouting the grain, etc.

Yet to take the plunge on making some yet though. (yet to locate any here in south Australia either!)

Wanted to let you know that I just stumbled onto your post in another thread and started to follow yours because I’ve been a longtime resident of the Hammerhead Ranch Motel - my brother has a company named Serge Storms LLC, and I’m a former PGA Club pro.

Not sure if you’re checking this, but thought I’d let you know you have a kindred spirit on here.

Finally! Someone actually gets the reference!

I just started a new log if you’re interested in following along. It’s titled “Serge A. Storms”.
