I was in technology class. The whole school stopped work and watched it on tv.

I was never realy affected by it at a personal level, so i don’t know why people are still thinking it as a big thing. To me, it was just some buildings where people worked, they were bound to die some die soon or later. Infact, to me, this is nothing as bad as places such as the poorer countries experience everyday with aids and poverty ravaging their country. To me, thats a bigger ongoing problem than the influx of casualtys and fatalitys on that 1 day (and following days).
Although this is just my oppinion, and as i stated, it didn’t realy effect me so i don’t know how other people reacted and how it effected them.
Well, honestly, when you look at the history of mankind, WWII was just a blip on the death screen.
Sure, worldwide famine and disease are terrible too, and efforts are being undertaken to stave off those problems, but they will likley never be enough. But to trivialize one form of death in order to bring attention to another form is asinine.
How would you appreciate it if, God forbid, someday you have a child who is killed suddenly and violently and I walked into the funeral and yelled out that it’s no big deal, she had to die sooner or later and that millions are dying around the globe due to the unfair economic practices of American big business (or whatever)?! Do you think that would go over well???
In the future, please have the dignity to refrain from such callous remarks.

I was expecting a reply such as that, but as i stated, i wasnt effected at a personal level. I am not saying this isnt realy a big deal, it is, but im saying it isnt a big deal to me. Anyway, ill go back to reading and not posting.

If something like this does’nt effect your feelings, what the fuck does?

I refer you to World War 2. When the Germans invaded Poland for the bogus Polish Attack in 1939 there was a quick declaration of war on Germany by a number of countries.
They included the UK, France, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. A number more jumped in against ze Germans as it all progressed. It amazes me that it took the Americans until 1941 to actually give a shit about this war.

Everyone feels different Alpha F, even in this country we cannot agree on things. No matter what we do someone will be unhappy. My problem is they still expect us to give them funds – even if they disagree openly with our politics. It is like the kid that refuses to adhere to the house rules but still wants an allowance.

Thats idiotic. So i guess then when that Tsunami hit in 2005 in SE Asia, us americans just sat here and said that sucks for them. We didnt donate millions and millions of dollars or lend tremendous support by providing counseling for the victims or the countless american red cross volunteers who helped rebuild?

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass.
Fuck you.
Oh no, i said something which was not the major opinion, i must be insulted. I’d think this site as a whole would know what it’s like to be a minority, from other threads it seems like it. Yet you can’t be a minority within the minority…
Thank you wfifer for trying to explain, and if my post screws it up, sorry.

I was sitting at my desk , getting ready to do a conference call, on Safety, of all things, when my wife calls me, and says " Are you watching the TV by chance, and I said " No", and she said, " well someone just flew a plane into the World Trade Center", and I said " really", so I went and turned on the TV in our training room, and sure enough, the first tower had been hit. I think it was me and maybe 1 or 2 other people watching at the time, when all of a sudden, the second plane flew into the other tower, and we were like " what the f-ck was that", and the rest is history. Anyway, needless to say, the tele conference was cancelled, and we held meetings to keep personnel updated on what was going on. I can still feel the samefeelings I felt on that day, everytime I think of the events that happened, and how it has changed the world.

America joined the war before 1941. The American Navy and Merchant Marine risked their lives in the North Atlantic shipping food and weaponry to England and Russia.
American military pilots and their support crews were seperated from the military to fight against the Nazi attacks on Britain and the Japanese attacks on China. This was done at the request of the US government.
yea i did catch that special on cbs. I thought it was really eye opening to see the firefighters actually there in the wtc, and to also just see the confusion in their eyes. It just seemed like everytime they began to slowly gain control of the situation, another disaster happened. Truly heroic stuff nonetheless

America even tried to help Iran when the earthquake devestated Qom. Of course Iran’s evil leadership would rather that citizens die than be helped by the infidel.
The ignorance and bitterness some people on this forum exhibit is staggering.
First of all, I’ll never EVER be able to understand those who can nonchalantly state that 9/11 “doesn’t affect them.” Sure, that is truly your own opinion to hold, and I can’t take that away from you, but I hope that you are in the extreme minority.
That said – I broke down and cried while watching the recaps of 9/11 today. I normally don’t admit that – Hell, I AM a T-Vixen –
but I couldn’t believe how deeply everything struck me – five years later. And it made me realize that we should be looking at these pictures more often. I feel like the mainstream media shields us from this, from the reality of seeing it over and over. I used to think it was because we’d become numb… but after feeling so deeply shaken today, I’m not so sure.
Everyone has their own way of greiving, and perhaps you don’t want to see these pictures on your TV screen. But it strikes me that the country that proclaimed “Never Forget” at the top of their rooftops for months after 9/11 has done exactly that – we have forgotten.
God bless those who lost their lives that day. I wish that the whole nation could remember what it felt like to be unified, to be resolute and to be truly American.
I had flown to Puerto Rico the night of the 10th. I got up the next morning and called the customer to come pick me up. When he got there, he told me a plane had hit the WTC, I thought he meant a private plane. By the time we got to his office, the second plane had hit.
They had a TV in the office and everyone was watching it. We got there in time to watch the towers fall. I freaked when they started talking about the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pa. I was now stuck in P.R. and my wife and child were in Denver and I had no idea what was going on.
A few hours later someone called in a bomb threat to the federal building (probably protesting the Vieques Island bombing range) and now the island was really locked down. I did go home for a couple of weeks. When the airport finally opened 5000 people were waiting outside to go home. Puerto Rico is a ?main? port for cruise ships and a lot of people in transfer at the airport and coming back on ships didn?t get to leave. The hotels were totally jammed.
Flying to New York City has never been the same. When you make the curve into La Guardia, the towers were always the first thing you saw in the city. God, I miss them.

I’m talking officially and on the level they should have been involved since day 1.
I remember waking up and hearing my roommate shout…“we are being attacked”. I stood there frozen and confused. I went to work that night and we closed early - obviously not alot of business.
I rented a movie - which was a collection of independent films - can’t remember the name but, one of the films showed nothing more than the horrific sight of people jumping out of the windows into certain death. I think the film maker did not include any sound. This made it even more eerie. What a powerful and dreadful impact. My prayers go out to all the families whose relations died in that tragedy.

America had no army on 1939. We were not treaty bound to join the war as the rst of the countries you listed were.
France should have invaded Germany when Germany invaded Poland instead of declaring war and then waiting to surrender.

It matters not what America does or doesn’t do - someone is always going to try to find fault.
TO ALL NON AMERICAN CITIZENS:
Fact number 1:
America is the current superpower of the world.
This is a political historical fact.
In other words: America Rules.
You need to get this because in the greater scheme of things it doesn’t matter what America does since supremacy rules and by force of nature it does as it wills when it wills and how it wills. Your country of origin would have followed the same methodology regardless of the issues. Same game, different players.
Fact number 2:
You were born where you were born by accident.
This is a biological objective fact.
In other words: Your national identity is a random act.
You need to get this because in the greater sheme of things you could have been born anywhere, including America. You didn’t chose it. You had no control over it. You had no choice over it - there was no tag attached to your genetic code specifying your country of origin.
You just happened to be produced in the womb of a woman who happened to be based on a certain piece of soil in the earth, the only planet currently available to sustain life may I add, and that is where your head first popped.
Given these two facts may I remind you to cease your national emotional attachments for one moment of clarity and presence of mind to see things from a greater perspective and get this objective, logical fact that all of this could have been happening in your existing piece of soil that you think of as an extension of yourself.
In other words: It could have been your precious country rulling the earth and being the object of hatred by the rest of us.
Please understand this.
This is a simple, objective truth.
