I have been thinking about the old days when I used to work out my abbs on a swiss ball, that horrible noxious feeling in my guts that I used to get from the muscles feeling more worn out than any other mucsle could be. After a while they started to feel alot better and I made good progress, but not near as much progress as I made when I tortured myself. I have decided to trade my swissball situps for incline bench situps for a short while. I just wanted to run this workout by you all and see what you think of it.
First I stack two 25lb plates on top of two 50lb plates and place a dumbell handle through the holes. I then place the high end of my incline bench on top of the stack of weights with the low end touching the floor. I then do full situps on a 202 tempo until I reach failure, I then rest 10-15 seconds and do as many crunches as I did situps on a 101 tempo, I then rest 10-15 seconds while taking the bench off of the weights and then I do as many situps, only going 2/3 of the way down on a 201 tempo, as I did for the 2 previous sets. I rest for 3-5 minutes and repeat. (I also have my hands behind my head on all reps.)
It really brings back that old feeling for me. It gave me exactly three times the time under tension that my old workout gave me. Is that way too much? I am planning to do this for 4 to 6 weeks as part of a gaining phase that I am doing to get a break from dieting for a little while.
