I’m posting this because I know there are plenty of gun owners here who may not know about the Gunvault. http://www.gunvault.com/
I’ve had mine for 4 years and use it multiple times each day. For $80 you can ensure that your pistol is secure and inaccessible to kids. You can open this safe in total darkness in less than one second. I think every gun owner needs one.
Some people do it like this: keep one Gunvault near the bed, and another in the main living area. No matter where they are in the house a firearm is within easy reach. And the guns are much more secure from kids & thieves (most thieves are smash and grab, they’re going to invest much time in trying to pry open a strongbox that’s secured to something large/heavy).
There’s a lot of talk about guns and our right to have them, but nowhere near enough talk about gun safety, IMO. Forget about the stupid trigger lock, you can keep your piece loaded in a Gunvault.
Yep - as a gun owner you do have the right, but you also have the responsibility as well.
Another component of theissue is child education - at 6 I knew about dad’s guns and to leave them the hell alone - He taught us three basic rules: Loaded Guns can kill - every Gun is a loaded gun - don’t point it at anything you don’t want dead. - I was a kid and those rules still stick with me today!

Yep, I remember those lessons too. I have some fond memories of those early years when my dad taught me how to shoot, and later going to hunter’s safety classes with the old man. It’s good to see a thread about gun safety here.
Can they be bolted down? I looked on the site quickly and didn’t see anything about it. But if you are a LEO or have kids in the house, they’re a good idea. The old “between the mattress and box spring” method used to work for many of us.

Yes, Gunvaults come with holes in the bottom of the unit and mounting hardware (as well as a template to predrill the holes).

good reminder in there too - take your kids to hunter safety class!!
With all of my long guns - the firing pins or bolt assembly comes out when it is stored at home. I have a Gun cabinet and a handgun safe - The gun goes into one and the bolt in the other (different parts of the house too). The only exception is my home defense shotgun.
