Schottenheimer is Back

Marty Schottenheimer is back as the Coach of “The Bolts”

How’s it playing in SD and for the “Bolt” Fans?

Thoughts?

Schottenheimer coaches like a sissy in the playoffs and that almost always costs him. Personally I’d rather have a coach that plays it safe in the regular season and pray that for once he’ll pull out all the stops in the playoffs. I’d rather have him than a coach who takes his team to the Conference Championship game one year and the next year go 6-10.

I’ve never understood why people rode down Don Shula. Sure, his defense sucked after the early 1970’s, but the Fins always made the playoffs. I couldn’t say the same about the Jets, Patriots, Colts, and Bills in the (then) same division.

I wouldn’t pin that loss on Marty at all. A few individual players made some very costly mistakes in that game. I don’t think he could have stopped Parker from muffing the punt and not falling on it. I don’t see how he could have stopped Florence from committing the personal foul after a key 3rd down stop.

He couldn’t have stopped McCree from fumbling after the 4th down interception. Those three plays were enough to completely turn the game around.
