SATs Tomorrow

Well, tomorrow I will be embarking on my first run at the dreaded SATs.

What food should I eat before and during the breaks to keep me alert and energized throughout the entire test? Power Bars? Fruits? just to give myself that little extra edge and keep me on top of things. Thanks

do you have the ability to get a hold of any Spike ?

umm its probably too late now… wouldn’t that make u crash during the middle of the test? 3 hrs.
thanks though

Number one thing you can have is confidence, and sleep.

By far the most important things. The material is nothing you haven’t seen before. It’s pretty damn easy. Just glide through the four hour exam.

Go to sleep. Being well-rested is the absolute best thing you can do right now. Don’t eat anything too heavy. Make sure to have a good breakfast with some carbs. The new test is longer, so don’t eat anything that is going to make you crash later.

Yeah, I think I read somewhere (here??) that apples have a greater waking effect than caffeine.

I dont know how much water that holds, but its worth a shot. As for your next SAT [or two], get a hold of Spike and take it while studying, as well as taking the test. It will not make you crash during the test, or even later that evening, for that matter.

Study hard

Get some sleep

Good luck, let us know what you made

Oh. IMportant: Eat what you always eat for breakfast.

The day of the SAT is not a time to be experimenting.

Exactly. Don’t eat more or less than you usually do. There is nothing more distracting during an exam that lasts for hours than listening to your stomach growl at audible levels in a room where no one is making a sound.

A huge brekfast with 4-6 fish oil.

It’s easy to handle the time fatigue or w/e with Spike. I just took the SAT’s today and a dosing of Spike helped a lot with dealing with being in a room for 4 hours.

Definitely try to get your hands on the Spike. I know it was definitely not truly responsible for my score on the SAT, but it certainly helps bring out whatever knowledge you already have in you.

eat a big breakfast.

stay away from stimulants unless you have been studying with them.

they will keep you awake but can actually prevent you from focusing as you should be due to your elevated levels of stimulation.

i guess you could expiriment with state dependent learning, but it’s probably too late for that.

bring a bottle of water and drink it slowly so you don’t have to pee the whole time as that makes it very hard to concentrate.

if you need a snack, try some trail mix but you should be fine. once you get in to the test you will zone in.

what would be more beneficial to you than particular snack suggestions are test taking skills.

bring a watch and know how long each section is. pace yourself on the long ones. take mental breaks for a minute or two if you feel brain dead.

don’t kill yourself over questions you don’t understand. skip them and come back if you have time at the end.

don’t worry about if you are full enough, have the right snack etc etc. just eat a big breakfast, bring a bag of trail mix in case you do get hungry and focus on the test.

…because what you really want is to have to take a massive shit right when you get to page 2. Hopefully, if things go right and you are lactose intolerant, you will feel the need to pass gas for 4 hours straight letting little bubbles out at a time and hoping the waif-like Iranian girl sitting next to you doesn’t smell it. I say, “Eat a HUGE breakfast!!”. Why stop at ‘big’?

Do you use creatine? If so then I would suggest taking a dose before the exam. It has been shown to be an effective cognitive booster. Spike is ace though, as is vinpocetin and modafinil. Get some for future studying, and experience awesome concentration and recall. :)[/quote]

this only works correctly if you take it in the same amounts every time you study and before the exam.

if you just study regularly, keep a some what regular sleep and wake pattern you should be fine with out supplements. humans have successfully existed for thousands of years with out them.

students have been successful in school with out them for hundreds of years.

don’t get caught up worrying if you have the correct chemicals, foods etc etc. just study and go to class. you’ll be fine.

i am so fuckn glad i never have to do those damn sat’s again.

did they add in an essay?

good luck mate

Test tip from Kaplan:

Drink Gatorade or another sports drink during the test instead of water. It will satisfy your thirst without making you need to use the bathroom right after.

What reasoning is behind this?
