SARMS and Training Style?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been into bodybuilding for 10 years. Went from 300lbs down to 146lbs and built up to 220lbs (26yrs old 6ft tall). I’ve stayed natural other than basic supps but have started playing around with SARMS lately (mk-677 and yk-11).

My question is that I’ve been doing the programs “best program for natural lifters” 1 and 2 which have given me awesome results even on SARMS.

Natural lifters respond better to low volume and high frequency which is what these programs are. I know people on steroids can often respond better to the opposite. With sarms beyond more than natural but less than steroids, what style would you guys suggest.

Of course try everything, but looking to see if anyone has input?

First off, congratulations on what sounds like an absolutely monster transformation of your body, man. Being 300lbs and having the discipline to get down to half that size and then building back up to 220 is really impressive.

Now for your question(s)

Addressing mk-677. It’s not a SARM, but a growth hormone secretagogue and a non-peptide ghrelin receptor agonist. That’s an important distinction to make as it is more comparable to HGH than it is to an anabolic androgenic steroid or an androgen reception modulator. As such your training could be geared towards higher volume, lower weight since you would be able to have slightly more endurance and recovery. But I’m certain that with a training routine that is well planned for one’s particular goals the results would be just as good for a lower volume and higher weight routine. It really is individualized. I’d argue that higher volume causes more fatigue and thus a GH-adjacent kind of drug would aid in that more than lower volume training, but I don’t have any science to back it up.

Now for the yk-11. It is a SARM in name only. Structurally it is an oral steroid. It has the basic chemical blueprint of a steroid (compare it to testosterone or trenbolone and see how similar they are) and does not quite look like a SARM. The problem with recommendations regarding how to train while on it is this: there is zero scientific evidence of how (if) it works in any living creature on earth. It was tested on mice in vitro and showed signs of what it could potentially do. But there is no data outside of anecdotes from users. It’s an oral steroid, it will absolutely cause suppression, and there’s no safety information about dosage, length of usage, or side effects. With that in mind you’d be better off running literally any other drug, SARM or AAS, instead of yk-11.

I REALLY appreciate the in depth feedback! It’s been a hell of a journey with lots of strictness for sure!

I knew mk-677 was more for HGH and read a lot of feedback of users liking to stack it with yk-11. I’m starting off with what seems to be the most common dose and cycle of 5mg per day to start, working up to 10mg for a two month cycle.

I’ve done a lot of research for what’s available, and that stack seemed to be pretty popular. In the meantime of the cycle I’m going to keep researching more to try. I’m playing with SARMS because I don’t know if I quite need the power of steroids for my goals (of course I say that now…) so I thought SARMS and peptides would be a good place to start.

I’ll keep doing research! Is there anything you would suggest?

I would suggest you strongly consider a testosterone base for any cycle. But that’s always my default answer when it comes to orals.

Now I absolutely understand the reason why you’d prefer to hold off on that for now. With that in mind I would make sure you have a really good pct planned out and in your possession before you get rolling. Because yk-11 is suppressive a true SERM pct is required. Now as far as I can tell it looks like a weird DHT derivative, so estrogen conversion should not be an issue. But that’s to be taken with a grain of salt since the research is so sparse.

I would consider running the mk-677 for a while, probably six months. The literature on it and its effectiveness indicates that at the 4-5 month mark it starts to really make some lasting impacts on muscle growth and overall recovery of any existing stresses to tendons and ligaments. So it looks like it works well, but it does not work quickly. So if you’re in for a longer cycle with it you will see better results than with a shorter cycle. Just my thoughts.

Again, thank you very much for your help. I think I’m going to do the 2 month cycle since it’s a blend of mk-677 and yk-11 that I already purchased, run a PCT for a month, then just stick with mk-677 on it’s own long term and see how that goes. It might be enough for me. My goals aren’t to be Mr. Olympia size by any means, but I at least want to stand out. I have a good amount of size at a lean 220lbs, but being just over 6ft kills it sometimes, especially in the arms lol.
