So it turns out that nearly everyone from my current gym (a very small coastal gym) won a sword at that meet over the weekend.
This tells me two things
Either

  1. There are too many categories in the federation
    or
  2. There are not enough lifters in the federation.
    or
  3. Possibly 1 and 2.

Glad I didn’t go as I don’t want what amounts to a participation trophy.

That went well for me feeling a little dragged out.

Going to switch lower accessories in for deadlift day and do deadlift day later. Still got a pretty good knot on the back of the left hip. It let me know it was there during pendlay rows. Accessories are lighter and I can probably handle them better than a near-max deadlift.

I really had to think about that before forming an opinion. It is odd, that’s for sure. I can’t imagine being all pumped up lifting weights and then abruptly trying to calm down and swing a golf club.

It makes me wonder if the gym part of his business isn’t making enough money… whatever ā€œenoughā€ is.

I’m not going to do the testing week. My regular workouts have given enough indication that I’ve gotten stronger and that’s enough for me. I’m going directly into the next mesocycle.

I’m dumping the RiR/RPE strategy. I can gauge improvement/progression better with straight sets and reps. Just a preference, as using RiR/RPE worked pretty well over the last two mesos.

I’m also going to make every micro fit within a week.
