kissing my ass will get you everywhere. just make sure it’s a trip you wanna take.

tolstoy? Nietzsche? John Irving? Chuck Pahlinuk?

It’s good to have goals.

not my territory, at all. this is a great place to throw out a resounding, “pics/video or shut the fuck up.”

because really, with as much flack as i’ve caught for posting my life on the net, i’m not ashamed of a bit of it, including my lifting numbers and form. everyone has something to learn, and the more people you ask, the more you’ll learn. even if some of that advice is horseshit.

it sounds like you work hard, and i respect that. i hope it stays that way.

You think far too highly of my own literary taste. I was referring to your friend, the Hobbit (yep, creeped on your journal). I’ve been a fantasy geek since the 3rd grade.

Oh, sorority girls. I see them come downstairs sometimes to the weight room. Is she going to lift? Is she? Is she? Nope, a few sets of lackadaisical curls.
The way I see it, they have everything they want already. Training is for people who want something more.

Nice squats.
Lol. This is well-said!

As for getting lean, I’ve really found that it has more to do with the ratio of your macro nutrients (proteins, carbs, fat) and how heavy you’re training than the amount of calories. In fact, put the calories too low and your body will start trying to rid itself of calorically expensive muscle.

The fastest leaning results I’ve seen have been with a low-inflamation diet, lower, but not too low on the fats, HIGH protein, and medium carbs. The girl who was consuming this made it down to 3% and maintained that for a week before her show. She was lifting HEAVY.

hahahaha

I’m definitely looking to lean up, but I’m pretty sure I’d die (like, actually die) before I got to 3%!

Whoa. Hell yeah… when your nutrition is that on point it doesnt surprise me. She must have been a mother fucking soldier and have joints of steel in order to stand that heavy lifting@that low body fat! When I was dieting for my show i maybe made it 14ish(who really knows) and I was achey everywhere¬ lifting heavy. I dont suppose by some miracle you have a link for a pic of this chick? Damn. New definition of hardcore!
BTW, this is the best way I have ever seen the reasoning behind not doing too low of calories expressed:“put the calories too low and your body will start trying to rid itself of calorically expensive muscle.”

We’re not all so bad! Although my sorority is responsible for my lack of posting the past couple days – we had our last social event Wednesday night, and I was in no state to write anything on T-Nation!

Wednesday’s Workout:
Deadlifts (alternating grip): 2x6 115 lbs, 1x9 @ 95 lbs. My grip was crap for some reason.
Incline DB Bench Press: 3x9 w/ 30 lb DBs
Bulgarian split squats: 1x9 w/ 15 lb DBs, 2x9 w/ 20 lb DBs
Rows: 3x9 @ 30 lbs (one day they’ll be 45!)
Crocs (the ones where you drag your body across the floor with your hands and a plate underneath your feet): 3x20 “steps”, 35 lb plate

Today’s workout:
1 minute jump rope, and then intervals of 30s jumping jacks, 30s mountain climbers

kimba, i think saturday I’m going to take your suggestion and try tabata for my next cardio session.

are you afraid of the number 10?

I too would like to see a picture of the zombie girl. I say zombie because she would have to die to have 3%bf. And that IS hardcore! Lord knows I wouldn’t die for a show.

Haha no, but that’s a valid question. I’m following one of the workout plans over on Figure Athlete, which calls for 9 reps…kinda sounds silly when you put it that way…

well damn it, i just spent 20 min searching for a pic that was posted on…ahem…the other side…a girl with ridiculous low BF…ridiculously disgusting…of course this matters not since i can’t find the pic. must.find.

you doing cosgrove’s wrkout, i recall? i have CRS, it’s hard for me to keep up sometimes.

Good job wringing every last bit of fun out of college/sorority life. Some of my sorority sisters (KAT) are still some of my closest friends.

I recognize that workout…did it myself. Never understood the nine rep thing.

Tabata will be similar to the intervals you’ve been doing. But less rest = way harder.

talenaah, I’m actually doing Wet Wolf’s KISS Bodybuilding Goodbye workout - I’ve seen pretty good results so far, but I’ve been doing it for close to 9 weeks now, so I’m planning on switching in the near future. I’ve got two weeks left of college, and then I’m heading on my university’s annual ski trip for a week. After I’ve done some fairly serious liver damage, I plan on hitting up the gym with a new workout routine.

Kimba, I tried a sort of version of Tabata on Saturday - not sure I did it right. I jump roped for 50 jumps (which came out to be about 25 seconds), and then took a 10s break. I did this 8 times. It hurt, but it was over nice and quick - which was good since I had zero time to work out yesterday; had to attend my last college football game (we won! And then all the seniors rushed the field…incredible game!)

Friday’s Workout
2x20 Bodyweight Incline Rows - 4th notch. I suck at these. I’ve come to the conclusion that my back is very weak.
2x20 single leg squats, 8 lb DBs
2x20 hip pop-ups
2x20 pushups with 10 lb plate on back
4x10 decline pushups from a bench
2x20 swiss ball crunches w/ 10 lb DB superset w/
2x20 swiss ball v-ups (i think they’re also called pikes)
2x1 minute plank, 25 lb plate on back

Really? I’ll post a picture of her for ya’ll to see for yourself. Also, she did the dunking method of bodyfat measurement, not the pinching, so it was pretty freaking accurite.

In addition, I watched her go through the final before show week, and it while it wasn’t a pretty time in her life, she continued to eat over 2000 calories up until 3 days out from the show. She also placed first. I would say the hardest thing for her was the lack of fat in her diet. We had to remove all peanut butter from the back room and send someone over to get it out of her house because she kept cheating with it.

Edit: In addition, she said that she tried eating a very low carb diet for a month a while back and was pissed off to find out that all 10 of the lbs she lost were from muscle. She told me yesterday that the second she makes a very drastic cut in carbs, she starts loosing muscle. By very drastic, I mean reducing them to less than 20% of the diet. She also gained a ton of muscle in the weeks right after the show.

As for lifting heavy, her last heavy leg workout was at least 5 days before the show because she didn’t want any inflamation. In the last couple days she worked on making tiny muscle groups pop such as the obliques and adductors.

3%???

three fucking percent???

no way.
dejavued wrote:

Yep, three fucking percent. I’m going to ask her if she has any pictures of the last couple of weeks so you all can see. She stopped getting her period several months before the show.

her organs would be failing.

I’m telling you guys what she told me. She was doing the hydrostatic dunking method of bodyfat measurement, and was eating nearly every hour. She was also walking around bundled up all the time because she didn’t have enough body fat to keep her warm. I’ll see if she has a print out of her bodyfat percentage test results and try to get her to hold them up for a picture.

Remember, body fat is relative to muscular development, so technically you could drop body fat percentage by gaining ten lbs of muscle and not loosing one lb of fat.
