Saliva Testing: Input on My #s

Hey Guys,

I don’t normally venture into this section…

Here are the results of my lab work:
Age: 31

Free T: 61pg/ml
Progesterone: 65
Andro: 134
DHT: 88
Estradiol: 6
FSH: 44
LH: 5 (I hear this is crazy low)

symptoms: morning erections are near non-existent, sex drive is not like when I was 20, still want it, just not everyday… then again I’m married, technically I want it everyday, just not enough with the same woman  2x week is a normal week for us

Anyways, I talked to Dr. Walsh (who wrote an article on here a while back), he seems to think that my T may be on the low side as it may be getting converted into DHT, hence the high #.

He recommended I try a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor for 30-60 days then monitor my symptoms.

Any thoughts for me? any recommended brands? Was just reading one thread from a search on the topic, so will do my digging myself.

Ranges? Pitty you got all those tests and the only one that is good for saliva testing is Cortisol which you don’t have.

Not many people on here believe in saliva testing other than for Cortisol.

Might want to get some blood work done to get a accurate reading.

Actually, do have cortisol.

9,7, 5, 2 was below reference range for morning value, where as all others were inline. Interesting thing is my wife had a very similar curve to her cortisol.

reference ranges for male my age
Free T 60-110pg/ml
Progesterone 5-95 pg/ml
LH 10-25 uIU/ml
FSH <125 uIU/ml
Estradiol 1-3 pg/ml
DHT 22-72 pg/ml
Andro Border low 100-150 normal 151-350

Interesting you say that about them being worthless, a few naturopaths seem to prefer saliva, though recently I’ve run across some conflicting info about it. And a conventional doc into this stuff used 2 different labs for saliva testing and got almost opposite results (both done at same time), specifically the cortisol test for himself

Saliva tests are very useful…
