I have to agree with Whitey on this one boss (sorry man!), I just don’t see a lot of challenges for BJ in the LW class. Not that those guys aren’t good fighters, but BJ is an AMAZING fighter.

That’s exactly my point. There’s no real challenge left for him at 155. He’s in a class by himself and needs to go looking for one.
That’s why I agreed! ![]()
Why does everyone think once a champ is considered ‘unstoppable’ he needs to go out of his class to fight. He is the CHAMP. He’s supposed to be the best, and contenders need to bring their A-game to even hope to become the champ.
He is king, sitting on his mountain. Others ascend, hoping to take the king’s throne. Does the king go looking for another mountain? No fucking way. He defends his mountain until he loses to a worthy adversary or retires.

'Cause when said king constantly slaughters all invaders those invaders stop invading, so he has to get on his horse and pillage other villages. Duh.

Well, let’s see how the next title defense goes.

Yeah I agree. That’s what happens when you get green refs in there though. They don’t understand how easy it is to slip/fall/or even get dropped for a second. He was obviously recovering even though he was taking BLOW AFTER BLOW to the back of the damn head! If anything the ref should have taken a point from Hendricks for that! I’m fucking livid about this fight.
The problem is that Dan Miragliotta is not “green.” He just has a history of fuck-ups.
Boss, what was that other fight he seriously fucked up? I can’t remember the fighters, just that I wanted to shoot my TV because it was such a bad stoppage.
hmm…i think was Matt Brown/Pete Sell??? There are a few fights to choose from…lol.

Matt Brown/Pete Sell was Yves Lavigne. He caught a ton of shit over that. Miragliotta looked bad because of the Thompson/Kimbo fight when he TKO’d Thompson early, and didn’t call the fight when Thompson had Kimbo on the ground and was landing a LOT of unanswered shots out of side control (I think).
I was a little mad about the Sadollah stoppage because he’s a tough guy and can take a lot of punishment, but Hendricks had more punches waiting for Amir. Even if Miragliotta had let it go on a little longer, Hendricks would have dropped him again.

I forsee maybe Frankie Edgar…or winner of Maynard/Huerta getting next shot at BJ. Hell,Diego is not even a stretch at this point. Still lots of good match-ups for him at 155.[/quote]
Edgar is probably my favorite LW but he seems to be a bit small. He should probably be at 145. I would love to see him there.
I can’t stand Sanchez but I think he will be a good match-up for BJ. Maybe the best in the UFC. Let’s see how BJ does when someone really pushes the pace.
If Edgar was at 145, Maynard would be my favorite LW. Maynard is a big strong wrestler, and seems to be improving overall, but probably needs one more top tier fight if he gets past Huerta. Huerta is a solid test. He will probably be forced to stand and trade for a bit. I’d like to see him against another solid striker with good TD defense before taking on BJ. Sanchez/Maynard would be a really good match-up as well. For some reason more interesting than BJ/Maynard.
Like the WW and MW divisions, there seems to be a pretty big gap between BJ (maybe Sanchez) and the mid tier guys. I am having a hard time figuring out why. With the money available and number of really good camps, you’d think every division and title defense would be extremely competitive. I find myself less and less interested in fights that include BJ, GSP, and Silva. I have rooting for these guys to lose so we can see some 5 round fights with some of the other guys.

Yep. He took quite a (short) beating in the clinch. I could see the fight continuing much the way it did. I do agree it should have been stopped and at least a warning issued for the shots to the back of the head. At least they looked like the back of the head from the angle we had.
It sucks that the fight was stopped there but I don’t think Amir was “ripped off”. If he was dominating before a questionable stoppage, he would have been ripped off. I would say the fans got ripped off not seeing it continue.
I picked Amir but was excited to see Hendricks do well. I can’t wait to see another big strong wrestler move up the ranks.

So you don’t think BJ should try and test himself against other fighters who could provide more of a challenge to him and continue to improve his game? I’d want to see BJ, or any fighter, become the absolute best that they can become. If he incurs a few losses in the process, so be it.
It’ll give him a better idea of what his weaknesses are (because there aren’t too many in the LW division that can really test him) so he can improve on them and become a better fighter.
There are a times when a king needs to descend from his mountain to find new lands to conquer to expand his domain.
That call was terrible. It didn’t seem to me that Miragliotta could even see Amir’s face. He did get drilled with the uppercut but in some of the replays I have seen it didn’t look like alot of the follow up punches were landing. I don’t like Miragliotta. Reffing is a brutal job and very hard but he fucks up way too much.
Some of his highlights include poking Heath Herring in the eye while adressing te fighters before the bell, raising the wrong figters hand when the winner was declared, and hammering a Japanese fighter (I don’t recall his name) while trying to get him off of his opponent.
