Sad State of Affairs

I see nothing wrong with a moderator ignoring a post made by one of the resident kooks and not putting it up. Selectively used it would further discussion and elevate the debate. They may already do it.

As it was said before we only need one conspiracy theorist. They pretty much say the same thing. We have way too many now and they all say the same thing and agree with each other.

Maybe we need a version of the TKO rule. I mean some of the trolls have been beaten to a pulp and still keep going, merely ignoring responses to them. Perhaps if your only response is "oh yeah well fuck you…your american, liberal, conservative, black, white etc…your response isn’t really needed at all.

Change comes from within. Nobody needs to respond to every post. A smart ass drive by comment should also be treated as such…is an answer really necessary to some of our members.

No, he is the Tim Phoenix of religion.

Steveo, saw your on-topic posts.

Just wanted to say that trolling isn’t defined by what you believe… it’s defined by methods and results.

Anyhow, a note on ignoring threads. It can be hard to do. You know that there are people out there reading them, getting what each us alternately considers wrong or right information and developing opinions and attitudes based on them.

Sometimes it is hard to watch a ‘drive by shooting’ of reality and not try to intervene.

Soooo… (looking for other politics threads to pick fights in)

Seriously, don’t I remember you posting about being bushed after a 265 pound deadlift earlier this year? Is that all someone needs to post to be a credible weightlifter so they can comment on politics?

All Internet political forums are rancorous. The only ones that aren’t are heavily censored, and those end up just reflecting the viewpoints of the mods over time.

There’s just as much good debate going on here as ever. Some of you may decide to stop posting such an avalanche of posts… well, big deal. Goldberg, char-dawg, mufasa, cupcake --these were quality guys back in the day that posted all the time here and are years gone. That’s how it goes.

If you don’t enjoy the rough and tumble of politics just go away.

Hey, little. Great to talk to you as always. I have a question: What makes a guy who states “I’d rather have hussein” think that he has any right to tell anyone anything? Seriously, that one sentence puts you into the oort cloud of loonies.

I’m smiling. I’ve been quite honest and upfront. If you choose not to believe it, great.

Thanks for the compliment. Thanks for capitalizing “Right.”

Oh, are you capable of a sensible response? Seriously.

What are you blathering about now? I hadn’t realized that I was not getting my quota of replies. Oh, how many replies would be adequate?

On a lighter note, I’ve been away for a while. The second thread I open up (this one) has me front and center.

It’s nice to know that pox still has his hard on for me.

Get serious. Again, every word has been truth. If you’d like to have a p.m. exchange, we can discuss the nuts and bolts of my workout program. I’m sorry if my size and strength upsets you.

Deal with it.

Hey, Chucky.

I appreciate your support in this matter. Normally, I don’t criticize anyone for lifting. As long as they are lifting as heavy as possible and are serious, that’s enough for me.

However, little has been rather snippy about it.

I have to tell you, honestly, that I lifted more than this when I was sophomore in High School. Seriously, in between football seasons we’d be tested.

It’s sad that with these sort of numbers irish has the gall to accuse anyone of not lifting.

If anyone needs to prove they are a weightlifter, it’s little irish.

Ahahahahaha! I’m sorry, but carrying on like that just screams… something or other.

I never said I was the strongest guy, but at least I posted it.

JeffR has never had a post outside of the politics forum.

Ahh nothing like an idiotic fool taking quotes out of context.

Compared to a Taliban like militant Islamic theocracy that actually trains terrorists?

Yea, I’d rather have Hussein there.

ooops, I said it again…another year of Jeffy saying that because I say this I must love Saddam…ah, you looney fuck you.

All you do is provide a decent troll job for the Right…you’re not even worth a sensible response.

Oh, are you capable of a sensible response? Seriously.

We all know that though, and so you get few replies to your idiotic posts.

Nowadays I laugh at you callin me ‘little irish’. From the guy who has never seen a gym and fakes “powelifting results” so he can stay on here…LOL laughable.

LOL…oh of course it’s all the truth Jeffy. Of course…

It will never cease to amaze me that the ones who yell “censorship” and “freedom of speech” the loudest our usually the ones who destroy, or are out to destroy, the most.

(I’m sure TC, Chris and the Mods can attest to that).

There is no debate, really, on what Prof has noted:

Perhaps the best Political Forum on the Net (with very diverse views), has changed to nothing resembling what it once was.

Cool…I’m out…

Well, I am not going to be held to a standard that everyone wants to ignore. I gave everyone the opportunity to stop posting, and I will move these threads to the other forum. Howvever, just like all of you I will not ignore misstatements of facts and misstatements and mischaracterizations about myself. [quote]

we can all just avoid steveos posts and let him suffer in torment within the fiery pits of forum hell

Yup, I aggree. My solution, don’t post. Don’t reply. I come here and read when I feel like I need a boost to my ego. This place makes me feel smart in comparison…
Or sometimes I am bored and lazy and truely have nothing better to do as I wait for clock on the workday to tick away.

Why is everyone so worried about those on the fringe? On any internet forum. you will get just as many Steve05801’s, Headhunter’s, JTF’s as you will BostonBarrister’s, vroom’s, ProfX’s. People are going to be different in their approaches. Some approaches will be valuable and worthwhile and others will just be annoying and stupid. That’s just part of life.

I may not always like something that someone says to me, but I do appreciate them taking the time out to say it. Unless, of course, it’s a stupid, baseless, personal attack because that person can’t express themselves any better.

In that case, I’ll be the first one to tell you to, not only go fuck yourself, but how, where, with what and why you should go fuck yourself. That kind of bullshit should not be tolerated. I will also call bullshit on people that condemn someone for certain behaviors and then demonstrate those same behaviors over and over again. These people are toxic and need to be treated as such.

If you don’t like a post, you should just simply ignore it. If it bothers you that much, say your piece and then leave. The only people that it truly annoys is those who can’t let things go and feel a need to try to force their views on others. These are usually pretty sad individuals that deserve pity.

Good advice and so very true for me as well!

I have got to agree with Rain jack throwing his red flag about Pro X. I do not ever answer a BB thread. I do not feel like doing 100 hours of research to post my opinion. I seldom post a link. I think most of the forum is nothing but someone?s opinion. I don?t reply to religious threads because I have little interest in them… I don?t see what all the problem with the religious threads is all about Just don?t make a post.

Okay, I see a lot of people saying “don’t respond”, but there is a different issue…

When the top twenty threads are all shit, then you aren’t going to dig down and find the threads that are worth responding to.

After looking at the top several, to see if there is useful conversation in them or not, and there isn’t, the game is over and it’s time to move on.

Just as in money, the bad drives out the good. The Internet has a way of sinking to the lowest common denominator if there are no imposed quality metrics.

Why not start one, or a few, of your own threads then? “On which side of my thinking tree should I sit?” or similar…

I think the fact that we are in a slow period in new news has a lot to do with the quality of the threads.

I think you’ll see the threads pick up as we grow closer to November, and go nuts the day after the election.

And…I just gotta laugh at “imposed quality metrics”. Good sounding words that kinda mean censorship if taken to the extreme.

It’s like hunting for mushrooms right now - You just have to ignore the shit and you’ll get a good one everynow and then.
