Sad State of Affairs

Greetings!!!

pox, I must tell you from my heart how much I enjoyed being mentioned so early in your diatribe.

I’m touched.

I’ll try to reciprocate in kind: You are my Captain Hammer Strength.

Whenever I see a hammer strength machine, I laugh and think of my precious pox.

As usual, I think you are off the mark.

I think we should embrace the nuts!!!
Guys like jlesky and THE BLADE, add a circus like feel to any discussion.

Imagine multi-colored balloons and cotton candy.

Then you have malignant dwarfs like reckless. What would this forum be like without pure hatred? Picture a guy with a rusted 1984 subaru. His car is laden with such gems as, “Convict Cheney” and “No more Blood for Oil” and “we support the troops when…” (I can’t finish the last one.)

Then there is this ssn guy. His avatar says it all.

Sprinkle in little “I’d rather have hussein” irish, and we have an entire brigade of nutjobs!!!

I apologize to any of the other nutjobs who I haven’t mentioned.

I’ll try to get back up to speed.

In summary, pox, we should welcome the loons. They make everyone else look very good.

I don’t think that censorship and exclusion are the right answers. There are various things that annoy different people differently. There are a lot of threads that don’t interest me at all; I simply don’t participate in those.

Steve0’s thread don’t require anyone to participate, yet he seems to have a gift of pushing people’s button and getting a reaction. Don’t read or reply to him if you don’t want to; start your own thread on a topic you’d rather discuss instead.

Say what you will about Steve0 and Headhunter; they do start a lot of thread and they do provoke discussions that are often quite interesting (often excluding the initial authors). A lot also degenerate into useless flamewars; but the blame for those is with all the participants, not just with the author of the threads.

For example, the “For born-agains only” thread has, of yet, received replies that only aim to inflame and ridicule; not one born-again, except for Steve0, has yet posted. Who’s keeping that thread at the top of the heap?

If a thread is not outright offensive (hate speech and such) I think it should be kept.

We might be able to convince Steve0 to put his threads in the “Off-Topic” forum instead of the political one. Would that compromise satify anyone? The Off-Topic forum is basically an “anything goes” forum anyway.
Wow – Pookie I agree with you 100%! I have to point out, though, if you notice that the [b] only threads that have been suggested to be censored here are ones dealing with Christianity – more particular God’s teaching of eternal punishment for not believing. Threads on all other topics, no matter how much they may disagree – nobody says anything about them.

Anyway, if you all wish that I post these types of threads on the “off topic” forum, then I will agree to that. If someone knows how to get the mods to move these threads already, then contact them and let them do so.

Pookie, I appreciate your reasoned response and the fact that you, like me, will not stand for censorship since freedom of speech is only free, if speech with which we disagree or even hate, is allowed to be aired in the public forum.

Your point also about the “for born-again Christians only” thread that I started is right on the money! I started this to make the exact point you just made. This proves that the ones perpetuating these threads is not me! Obviously, not that anyone wants to admit this, these threads do interest guys here and people do want to discuss this. So, Pookie, I applaud your conclusion, for it is the exact thing that I wanted to prove in the first place.

Take care!

Yes, yes, I know all about the censorship arguments, the slippery slope arguments and all of that stuff. Really though, how many people come along and single handedly deconstruct one of the best political discussion sites on the Internet?

I don’t suggest elimination due to beliefs, but due to trollish results. There is a big difference. Besides, it would add to his persecution complex and probably make him bask in a self-righteous glow. Well, he already does that, but we wouldn’t have to see it.

Amen.
Quite interesting drivel, as usual from Vroomy. Isn’t Canada a free, democratic nation (besides the Communistic Marxist Government Health Care System)?

This is very clever of you though, Vroom.

Vroom’s tactics of ridding those he doesn’t like:

(1) Call them a word that starts with “ass…” and then put on different endings.

(2) Label them a “troll,” even though (as I can assure you) I am clearly not, since I:
a) 100% believe everything I post.

    b) Workout at a local gym here anywhere from 3 to 5 days per week.

    c) I take GNC whey protein and creatine.

etc. etc. etc…

(3) Then use this “straw man” argument to throw them off.

Anyway, Vroom, I don’t think the mods are as dumb as you think. They know full well from all of my posts that I am not a troll, so you will have to live with it.

Anyway, I have agreed to take these types of topics in the “off topic” forum, unless T-Nation wishes to start a religious one.

I will post here only about things which relate to politics, and I reserve the right to enter into any discussions here, although I have to tell you that my worldview is based upon God’s Word, since I am a Christian 24/7, 365…

OK, Vroom, you can be happy now.

Of course, only we can make the change. My blinding hatred of SteveO has made me reply on many of his threads, but that is going to change.

We can get back to talking about politics. And it’s about time.
As the most political forum members, we make a nonagression pact betweent the Left and the Right in order to get the shit back to the way it used to be. Then, like Stalin and Hitler,we can turn on each other and do what we do.

Anyway, let’s get back to politics.
If everyone ignored him, he’d go away on his own, eventually. I’ve seen it happen in newsgroups, where trolls get “kill filtered” and eventually realize no one is reading them anymore. Usually they pop-up under a new name a few times, but their mannerisms (or often, simpy the headers of their posts) gives them away.

T-Nation lacks the “kill filter” feature, and makes it difficult to entirely ignore someone…

Yes, yes, I know all about the censorship arguments, the slippery slope arguments and all of that stuff. Really though, how many people come along and single handedly deconstruct one of the best political discussion sites on the Internet?

I’ve seen much better political discussions in the forums at slate.com or on various blogs and newsgroups. The ones here are appealing because you get to discuss politics with people you know you have something in common with (self-improvement through training and diet). Debates with friends always are more engaging than with pure strangers.

I don’t suggest elimination due to beliefs, but due to trollish results.

Who’s more to blame? The troll who trolls, or the fish who takes the bait?

There is a big difference. Besides, it would add to his persecution complex and probably make him bask in a self-righteous glow. Well, he already does that, but we wouldn’t have to see it.

Amen.

You see? You enjoy bashing Steve and his trolling. If everyone was indifferent to it, he’d be gone or he’d be participating normally in the regular threads. People (myself included) enjoy engaging him, if only to call him names and tell him he’s a moron.

No troll can troll alone.
Pookie – can I ask you why “Brokeback Propaganda” doesn’t get the same treatment and “forlife” is not called troll for his thread advancing the homosexual agenda, and using disgusting, graphic descriptions of homo sex? It is very interesting that you guys find this acceptable, but discussions about God and His Word is treated like this?

His ascetic narcissism and insistence on a sadistic father figure he more or less identifies with, looks more like NPD than HPD to me.

The whole power struggle issue would be solved by someone being histrionic, since it is the core of his conflict my money is on NPD.

He could also be a fabulous troll.

Typical Histrionics are more obvious in women (and as you prob know, more common)but more subtle in males, but with him, just going on what he does here, distinct possibility.

Something tells me it could be someone having an immense laugh, each subsequent post gets a bit more daring, also look at the RR Avatar, worldwide renowned as a joke figure. Its either someone sick or someone with a very strange sense of humor.

Hell, I do not know what to make of RR.

No, I see Ronald Wilson Reagan as the best President of the 20th Century.

Might I remind you (as we are getting back to discussing politics) that Reagan:

(1) Rebuilt our military after Jimmy (the Joke) Carter runied it.

(2) Rebuilt our standing on the world stage as a superpower and a fighter for human rights.

(3) Single-handedly brought down the Soviet Union and most of the Communist countries by actually setting out to and winning the Cold War. All others, including the dems, only wanted to “talk nicely to the Russians…” Please…

(4) Reagan started the economic engines running that led to the greatest economic expansion in our nations history, of which William Jefferson (BJ) Clinton benefited.

Actually, the kooky conspiracy threads are also annoying to many people. I don’t like them, if only because the only “debating” done by the kooks is to paste reams of text from various websites. They seldom give any original opinion on their pet subject. Any arguments raised, even if done in a respectful manner, is answered by more pasting.

In your case, it’s not Christianity itself that’s the problem, but the way you present it and the number of simultaneous thread you’ll start, all on the same topic.

Your views on Christianity, while surely “correct” in your views, can be pretty offensive to believers and non-believers alike. Telling eveyone they’ll burn forever is hardly conductive to any kind of discussion. You might believe than John Paul II is burning in Hell, but voicing it will make it difficult for you to engage Catholics in any discussions whatsoever.

After a while, people conclude that debate or discussion is of no interest to you; and that you only want to publicly condemn them for doing what they do. If that’s your actual purpose, T-Nation is probably not the best place to do so. Try the alt.atheism newsgroup instead.

In fairness, some of your old threads recently got “bumped” by various people and make the “problem” appear worse than it is.

I believe that might alleviate the problem somewhat, as many are very attached to “their” political forum. Political trolls are very territorial.

I’d rather be able to participate in topics that interest me, while ignoring those that don’t than have someone else decide what I can or can’t discuss. I prefer being able to choose among many topics, even if that means that I must ignore the boring or offensive ones. Scrolling down and clicking “Next” isn’t that hard, is it?

That’s part of the problem right there. Starting threads simply to get a reaction is trolling. That thread isn’t really to discuss or debate anything; it’s there to goad people in attacking and bad-mouthing you.

I requested that the threads be moved. As far as my “trolling” before, I felt it necessary if only to vindicate myself in public.

It is sometimes difficult to make a point when it is 2500 against 1.

For one thing, forlife hasn’t started any other threads on gay marriage, he’s confined himself to one thread. If every couple of weeks he came here and started threads on “For all the ass virgins” or “What are going to do about your sperm debt?” I’m sure he’d be called a troll and get the same calls for censorship you’re getting.

Anyway, why are you asking me? I’m not the one advocating any form of censorship, other than people ignoring threads they don’t care for. You won’t have to endure “graphic depictions of homo sex” if you don’t read the Brokeback thread.

Allow me just a second to say - WHEWWWW!!!

As for most of the other old school members of this forum - I agree.

I agree with pookie for the most part, as much as it pains me.

I agree with BB, but I usually do any how.

I agree with Zeb - but I usually do anyway, except when it comes to bench presses and canned tuna.

I agree with Thunder because he has the largest vocabulary of anyone I have ever seen post down here.

I agree with doogie - mainly because he grew up in the same general God fosaken part of Texas that I did.

I say let’s all do our part to put an end to the religious threads, or any of the kook fringe illuminati threads posted in this forum. I rarely post in them and, regardless of your views on the subject, if you don’t post in them they will die.

I say that the only threads allowed from the kook fringe tin-foil hat brigade are those from JTF - just because he has been doing it for sl long that it just wouldn’t be right if he didn’t keep doing it.

As for the rest of the pseudo-intellectual kids that seemed to have infested our formerly friendly hateful sparring - fuck you guys. None of you have earned an iota of respect yet.

I may hate the air that tme breathes - but at least he’s been here long enough to earn a little respect.
