Is there a reason why you need to “gain” mass? Why are all these guys huge? Also, why would adding 30 pounds help leverage?

What does 3 /2/4/5 board mean?

more mass equals bigger belly equals less distance for bar to travel. also thicker elbows and whatnot.

boards are used to limit ROM, 3 board equals 3 2x6’s stacked together usually.

Dave, you’re asking a lot of questions about this stuff lately, if i didn’t know better i’d say your getting bit. You gonna come over to powerlifting?
Maybe when im a bit stronger. I’ve been arguing and asking questions to get my facts straight.
It’s an interesting “sport”. I’m gonna start with rippetoe first though but its definitely somethin id like to do :stuck_out_tongue:

At the top of the index list are 1-5 board explanations, though evansmi’s explanation is sufficient.
Ok people here is the deal. Ryan lifts in my city and he comes into my gym periodically as people from his crew come to my gym to squat sometimes. I have seen him squat. It was about 4 years ago and he went 600 or 655 for about 4 or 5 reps and he didnt know what he was really doing. That was jsut raw strenght. He was benching around 800 at the time I think, or shooting for it. That tells you what he could do now.

I have also seen him bench at meets all the way back when he was benching 600. That was like 10 years ago. One of the greatest shows is watching him warm up. What someone needs to do is film his warmup sets to show how freaking strong and how much bar speed he has. You really have no idea until you see it in person. The 705 is something he could do raw easily.
