Russian Military Buildup Outside Ukraine

Where are you getting this from?

I’ve seen you do this before, literally make things up about what someone’s thinking.

I’ve said it before. I don’t play dumb e-games/e-beef. If you want to be confrontational, why not finish it? Considering you can’t finish it offline, why start?

Second time you’ve talked about engaging me in a physical altercation after I questioned your logic. Sucks thats your reaction to disagreement.

Nope, never did it before. Nor am I simply referring to physical confrontation per se. I’m only referring to you being snippy out of nowhere and assuming what I think or feel and that perhaps a man should be snippy offline and see how it works out or if he’ll actually be sarcastic to a stranger, including if that stranger is with friends and family members.

You could have asked “what innocent people do you refer to?”

Yep, second time. Saying that I should take our disagreement offline, try to finish it up and see how it works out. To be too woke about it, pretty much cliche toxic masculinity.

Getting away from your implied physical threats, you have concern for innocent Ukrainians. Who is hurting these innocent Ukrainians?

Russian military.

Are you seeking to “win” (emotionally blackmail, smear) this conversation or simply to have respectful conversation?

I’m just not trying to get beat up lol.

The Russian military invaded Ukraine and harmed and continues to harm millions of Ukrainians. We agree that’s pretty awful. Do you think that this is justified?

I am not a violent person and for all I know you and others here can easily kick my behind. I simply cannot wrap my head around e-confrontation or out-of-the blue sarcasm to strangers behind screens. I wonder if a man would this in a public space, especially if a stranger was with friends.

If you actually just wanted to start conversation in an offbeat way, then I apologize. I do not like being mean to people.

Given what I’ve found out about the background of this all, I am torn on this, like very torn.

What has you torn? This is VERY black and white to me, so I’m genuinely curious.

Correction: A central American boy sold to Coyotes and likely sexually abused and horribly treated, detained at the American southern border. Who needs to be deported back to his parents.
It’s apples and oranges. Cuban’s have for decades, been able to enjoy asylum status, if they could get out, until Mayjorkas started blockading Cuba and preventing Cubans from entering the same ports of entry they allow the rest of the world through.
The crisis at the border is the result of the open door policy of the biden admin. And the human suffering toll as a result is unmeasurable. There is not a war in Mexico or south America.
People from certain countries are allowed here, by law, because of the political status of their countries. I.E. countries who are enemies of the US. Socio-economic status is not a reason to get asylum here. It has never been that way in any country. Because it’s idiotic to do that.

Here’s a quote I think you’ll like Loppar. It’s from Dima Vorobiev, a former Russia propagandist that posts on Quora.

“Why are so many people pro-Russian, considering what Putin does in Ukraine?”

No matter what we do in Ukraine, there will always be many across the world who applaud us.

I see five captive audiences for our propaganda. In the coming weeks and months, these are going to be the main recipients we can count on:

  1. Children of Great Russia

The Russian diaspora counts now millions, spread everywhere. Many of them consider our Derzháva (“mighty Russian State”) in its Putinist incarnation part of their ethnic and personal identity. Tribal loyalty is very much alive and kicking even in the most educated, well-read, and apparently cosmopolite among us. Hersh Bortman is a great example of an ex-Soviet emigré who passionately loves us from his safe distance in Israel.

  1. The Schroederized

Putinism enriched great many people outside Russia. The former German Chancellor Schröder is the most famous of them. A demise of our beloved President is bad news for them.

  1. The looney left

For the likes of Comrade Alexander Finnegan, Putinism is a welcome ally in their sacred fight against Imperialism, colonialism, the yoke of profit-seeking monopolies and other exploiters and bloodsuckers. They don’t care that Russia of the last three decades neatly falls under Marxist descriptions of the worst Capitalist society. Whatever can help defeat their hated liberal democracy, is good. No matter what, period.

  1. Libertarian fringes

A disunited front of conspiracy theorists, anti-vaxxers, warriors against the Deep State, white supremacists, gun activists, anti-globalists, fans of Assange and Snowden are flocking here. For them, the glorious Russian army and our secret services are the mighty ram destined to crush the stifling rule of Eurocrats, Anglo-Saxon banksters, neocons and others enemies of humankind.

  1. Anti-American nationalists

These vastly outnumber the previous four. Here, we find two disparate groups

  • Western nationalists. For these, Anglo-Saxon globalism—what the rest of us call “liberal democracy”—is a huge, ugly, reprehensible disguise of progressivism. They see in it a gravedigger for their national identity. “Go, Putin, go, put themselves in the grave they dug for us!”
  • Nationalists in non-Western countries vastly outnumber those above. The Chinese of course are in the lead because of their numbers. But Indians, Africans, Arabs and Latin Americans are strongly represented, too. They keep the memory of colonial past fresh and sharp. Russia bringing revenge on the haughty, wealthy descendants of their former masters is sweet music to their ears.

Many friends of Russia are of course not part of any of these 5 groups. They are as scared and confused we inside the perimeter. They don’t like many of things that we do. But they are desperately looking for anything positive, any piece of good news, any shred of redeeming evidence from our side.

Everytime I hear this, I know a lie is about to follow…

And there it is…
So which left line should we believe, because we have several to contend with:

  • They are just for food safety.
  • Oh, these are just facilities that are trying to dismantle old Soviet biological and chemical agents… Because apparently it takes 17 years to do that, rather than just gathering up and disposing of them. I know the government is inefficient, but this would set a new bar of incompetence. ← This has been my favorite lie so far.
  • These are facilities used to develop vaccines.
  • The US does not have biological and chemical weapons ← This I sort of believe.

The fact is we don’t know shit about these labs. And I don’t buy Russian, Chinese propaganda. And I don’t buy the propaganda from the west either. The track record of lying is too massive to ignore.
If they want trust, all they have to do is tell the truth. It’s that simple and they won’t do it. It begs the question why? What are we hiding?

If these labs are anything the government has been saying they were, we wouldn’t be. And lets not forget, that Russia doesn’t need these. Remember when obama brokered a deal with Russia and Syria to allow Russia to relieve Syria of its chemical weapons? The got several tons, of mustard, sarin and all kinds of nasty stuff. Russia got them with the full blessing of the American administration. So what would the russians need these biolabs for anyway?

When that line is used, I automatically believe the supposed “propaganda”. Well, depends on the source, I have never believed Russia or China, ever. They have a pretty shitty track record with “russian misinformation”. Like the Hunter Biden laptop, the Russian Collusion hoax… Or anytime anyone disagrees with their insane narratives.
I find this new super passionate hatred of putin amusing. I have not been a fan for 2 decades, but up until 2015, everybody in the government called them “friends”. But hey at least patriotism and anti-russian sentiment is high. So BLM and antifa cannot fly the hammer and sickle anymore, for now. And BLM refering to themselves as “marxists” may not be so popular.

The same can be said for the west. And this insane idea that putin is unprepared, nuts, didn’t happened to war-game all possible contingencies is asinine on it’s face. The map seems to tell a very different tale.
People tend to think war is like the movies. It takes a while to take over a country that is resisting. And as long as the west continues to fill Zelenski with bravado, he will continue to think the west is coming to his aid.
It’s a bet he’s probably going to win, but I don’t know if he’s considered at what cost. The fact that the Russians can demand wholesale, unconditional surrender, when Zelinsky’s overtures are basically what Russia wanted in the first place tells me they are arguing from a position of strength. And Russia is going to need a whole lot more than Ukraine could possibly offer, so they would need the west to sweeten the pot for Russia, who seem calmly uninterested at the moment. However, we seem intent on war, not de-escalation, of which I am not a fan.

Another lie. They shelled an administrative building, not the reactors. Even the Russians aren’t that dumb and most conventional arms will bounce off the containment buildings. They would need something like a MOAB to damage those containment buildings, especially if they are built by western standards which requires 12 foot thick, steel reinforced concrete as the base. They are designed to withstand a direct hit from a 767 during a Cat 5 hurricane. You can unload as many grenades and AK47 rounds into them you want, and that may chip the paint.

Maybe this is why:

I sure hope so, but I am not really convinced of that. Life is much cheaper in the Russian military. They don’t mind losing as many souls are required to accomplish their task.

Yeah, that’s the consequence of bravado, over-confidence, underestimating your enemy, gross incompetence, and alarming stupidity demonstrated by our government so far. The only good thing is they have not yet instituted this asshat idea of a ‘no-fly zone’. I said early on, I have every confidence that this administration will fuck this up in every possible way and have been unfortunately been proven right so far. The only thing we seem to be good at is narrative, but it’s seemly less effective than before. Maybe it’s all the lies they continued to tell us, over and over and over again. About covid, about thier political opponents, about protesting truckers, etc. Who the fuck really believes these people, when they have verifiably lied, repeatedly and consistently?
And in the mean time, the people suffer, suffer unimaginably. And instead of searching for a peaceful de-escalation, we have a government full of people itching to get involved. They want to show off… And soon it won’t be just the Ukrainians suffering. We are all gonna pay, but the people who are bringing us this disaster will always be comfortable and warm. Ruminating about what they could have done better in a cozy robe sipping hot tea, brought to them by a servant.

That is a depressingly accurate read.

Russia is best loved a) from a very safe distance or b) by people who’ve never been to the country

This is so accurate!

I’ve been more or less obsessed with Russia/USSR since 6th grade. People are always shocked when I criticize it.
They assume that I support the Kremlin. In reality, I “love” it the same way people “love” true crime

With that said, I really truly love Germany

I have been to St.Petersburg, but that’s about it. My wife is from there, and now lives in Europe and makes a whole lot more money. I guess that’s about says it all about how attractive Russia is to live and work in.

One thing you surely must concede to the groups Dima mentioned though (and Pat): it sure would help with the moral high ground if the US and its various allies and vassals hadn’t made a habit out of manufacturing consent through the media for its military adventures. The KGB aren’t the only ones with a propaganda budget. It would also help if we didn’t pursue the ludicrous idea that it’s a good thing to make ourselves interdependent with autocratic regimes in Russia, China, Saudi etc, because interdependence will somehow bring peace.

Personally I feel that all these details about who lied about what are largely irrelevant. Humanity isn’t mature enough for its technology, and civilizational collapse is almost a certainty.

My gut feeling about this invasion is that the top demanded intel saying that Ukraine would easily fall, and eventually it was produced. Same kind of thing preceded the invasion of Iraq when they wanted intel confirming WMD’s. But, the banality of evil is too banal for my tastes, so my mind prefers the idea that all these sinister oligarchs and satanists are part of a world wide conspiracy to enslave mankind, and this war is another psyop meant to hasten the acceleration into the NWO, world government, totalitarian nightmare. It’s much more interesting that way.

The totalitarian nightmare part I guess is inevitable either way though, lizard people or no.

Yes sir and repenting in the midst of the lenten season.

Ive not heard of Tom Woods. “I’m not in favor of so and so and I dont support such and such.” I like that. I’ll give him a listen.

@Alrightmiami19c Perhaps you know I converted to Catholicism last April, so I’m doing the same. Unfortunately, I didn’t behave accordingly in this thread today by losing my cool. I’m not a libertarian but I like Tom Woods and several of the authors over at Lew Rockwell, especially now with their nuanced commentary on the current situation.
