Russian Military Buildup Outside Ukraine

I’m reading the Ukrainians allowed Russian armor to roll across the borders, and then attacked the following supply lines (softer targets) leaving a ton of tanks, etc out of gas and sitting ducks.

It’s extremely disappointing to me to see Germany and other nations unwilling to implement harsher sanctions on Russia due to the likely hit to their economy. It seems like true horror of total war is a long forgotten memory, and is why everything isn’t being done to avoid it.

I am also reading that Anonymous has declared war on Russia and is DNSing state websites and infrastructure. Russia is in trouble with western govt cyber espionage hitting them covertly, AND Anonymous hitting them overtly.

Fuck Putin.

Remember back when Trump was responsible for current happenings because Obama was no longer President? :joy:

Whomever is buying oil, gas and vodka from russia is also funding this war on Ukraine…and that goes for the my country, the USA too

I’m very sorry that this happens. We are a disgrace. The German people are willing to take the hit, but politicians are not willing to take risks in my country. They murdered our economy with restrictions for 2 years for a minor threat and now Russia invades a European country and suddenly our economy is oh so important.

Our gasoline is triple taxed and payed for by taxed money. One of the taxes (the CO2 tax) was introduced 2020 and added 20 cts costs per liter (15%) to gas prices immediately. If you just get rid of this tax and some other equally unnecessary taxes, you could easily get way more sanctions done without putting a major financial burden on the people of Germany.

I don’t know if you’ve read my posts or if you ever read a post completely. Germany has shitty sissy left wing leadership. All they do is bitch complain and cry about unfairness. Simultaneously they’ve been cutting our military for decades now and they make us Germans into entitled bitches. The only thing we do good is work hard to pay these suckers taxes like mad and then drop of a heart attack for our trouble. But we have great potential. Germans are extremely hard working, none of us are shitting around. I said it would take a few years but I bet we could be a world power again in one generation. We could become a serious military force in less than 5 years. Mandatory drafts, a good organization, the money from all the hypocritical environmental bullshit and a strong man at the top and Germans would be a force again.

I hope we implement all of that before Putin decides to take on Germany.

An attack on a NATO country is still unprecedented. I actually think in a real politic sense there’s not much difference between Ukraine and it’s NATO neighbor which is why you are probably right.

Question to the isolationists here:
Do you think America should/would have joined WW2 of Germany and the Axis powers wouldn’t have declared war on you?
(So much to the point that war in Europe doesn’t matter to America)

Dont forget about China. 20% of all imports to the US are from China but no one bats an eye.

Id like to think better of my countrymen, but im surprised how much the public reaction has been different now that we have a “white war” on the tv screen.

You mean white people or what is that? And how is the reaction in the US?

As far as I know, the US is generally a very isolationist country when it comes to polling.

More or less yes. For the most part i steer clear of the race bullshit, but its odd that China gets a pass as long as we keep getting cheap electronics and clothing. To be clear im not saying we shouldnt vote with our wallets and stop purchasing russian goods, but it would be nice to see that moral compass utilized beyond a european conflict.

My feel of the pulse is yes, the US general public wants nothing to do with this shit.

Isn’t this, in part, due to Germany attempting to go 100% renewable energy - then failing to realize that people still need gas for their cars?

Yes. The political, school and media infrastructure in Germany has set the goal a few years ago to convince Germans that climate change is the be all end all.

Our supposed middle/right party which was in power for 16 years has taken this to an extreme and pretended to go green whilst shipping in gas from Russia like mad. Last election cycle I read the plans from every party, not one of them had an against Russia agenda on the menu. I was actually super surprised that even our right wing party (the only real right wing party that exists in Germany) wrote they want to “get closer to Russia”. So yes, our political establishment is in Russia’s pockets. They earn the bullet as much as Vladimir Putin did. They are a disgrace to our nation.

The problem with Germans is that in large parts we haven’t woken up yet, >75% of Germans still trust everything the state funded media tells them. It’s not that they are always biased like CNN or Fox, but they are subtly biased on nearly every topic. Most Germans don’t know that we in part are responsible for what happens now.

What bothers me the most is the difference in treatment of threat from Covid vs the threat of war.

The Russian central bank has reportedly directed the Russian stock exchange to reject any foreign selling of Russian securities.

This will crash the market to zero when it reopens. If it doesn’t reopen, the market is worthless anyways.

EU has also shut it’s airspace from all Russian registered aircraft.

Fuck Putin.

I have and do.

But they give you no reason.

The last time I drank vodka it was wheat vodka from the Ukraine, so I did my part.

That was like 26 years ago though. And basically moonshine. Flavorless but potent!

Looks to me like Germany is stepping up.

Speaking for myself, it’s less about “white-on-white violence” and more about a scrappy underdog sticking it to our longtime adversary.

We absolutely 100% should be boycotting Russian goods. Taxes collected on those purchases are directly funding the bloodshed in Ukraine. Fuck that.

I just finished binging 8 seasons of House MD. When I saw that Putin was spouting nuclear craziness, I started thinking about all the episodes of House where people had venereal disease (mostly syphillis iirc) lurking in their bodies that suddenly started attacking its host for whatever reason…truth is stranger than fiction…

US is buying like 7% of its oil from Russia

Poopy Pants Joe already helped with this, when his Administration banned the importation of Russian ammo. Banned the import of Russian ammo, trying to go to war…that should really help cut the amount of useless(because nukes, of course) ammo available to Americans.

Oh im aware. I love cheap, steel case ammo. My guns get a healthy diet of Tula. PPU is a good sunstitue for cheap import ammo. Well, until putin rolls into serbia.

Keep in mind that Putin has labelled this a “special military operation” to “denazify” Ukrainian leadership while attempting to spare civilians and infrastructure. If this was an all out war of annihilation (like the eastern front of WW2) they would be flattening every city in their path with airstrikes and artillery and not stopping convoys because there are civilians blocking the road.

I 100% oppose this invasion and I admire the Ukrainian defenders, but don’t underestimate the Russian threat - they are operating under tight ROE for political reasons. Ukraine as an independent nation is barely older than me, and I turn 30 in a month. Kiev was the 3rd main city of the USSR. Many older Russians have Ukrainian friends, family, etc. There’s already very limited support for this “operation”, so if Putin ordered levelling Ukrainian cities or using nuclear weapons on Ukraine he would be facing a coup/mutiny.
