Russian Military Buildup Outside Ukraine

Did I say that?

Do the people of Donbas? Do the people of Crimea? Is Ukraine willing to let them go if they do want to be part of Russia?

Or let Putin and Biden fight it out. Throw any other politicians that want to involve their subjects in this dumb shit in there as well.

Yes, that is the only way I know to interpret you saying that they didn’t cross a moral line.

I’m willing to admit here that I don’t know and that I am willing to change my mind. I did not mean the question argumentatively. But you didn’t answer the question, where do your ideas about what the Ukrainian people want come from?

I think I actually just asked which moral line was crossed.

Your statements only make sense as a counterpoint to my declaration that they did. I’m afraid I need some clarification as to your point with the question then.

Same here. I see no reason to believe America here.

It would seem there are plenty that want to be Russian, especially in the regions in question.

I was just asking what moral line was crossed. Forcing even one person into an agreement(State/government) is immoral, but where do we draw the line? We’re talking about politics/government, so morality may as well be left behind. It wasn’t a counterpoint.

It doesn’t seem so. Before the Crimea annexation in 2014 the party advocating unification with Russia on the peninsula itself was getting single digits in elections.

The shift away from Russia is apparent in elections after 2014, including in 2/3rds of Donbas that (was) under government control - pro-Russian parties were getting under 10% in the country overall.

That’s why the invasion, because Putin realized that return of Ukraine towards a pro-Russian course through soft-power (the ballot box) is virtually impossible.

Oh most assuredly they have their popcorn out and enjoying the show. The issue now is, there is no room for error. And I have absolute zero faith that the current administration won’t fuck it up in as spectacular fashion as possible. So much of this was preventable. And everything leading up to this point has been one cluster fuck after another. The whole Nord stream thing was just mind-bogglingly stupid. ā€œLet’s lift the sanctions because Trump.ā€ and the insane idea that they can use it as a bargaining chip later was asinine. The biggest mistake is this administration thinks Putin is stupid. He may be a bad guy, but he’s most certainly not stupid.
They have the mentality of someone shopping in San Fran and putting bags in their car thinking nobody will steal them and then act surprised and horrified when it happens. Yeah, it’s the criminals fault, but there is a reason people leave their doors unlocked and trunks open. Because they understand the reality of the situation.

Extremely short sighted. You’ll feel the effects of this position in less than a year and they would be devastating for America.

In less than 30 years I bet America would be the next country getting conquered when all your resources you depend on in Asia and the Middle East get taken by Russia and China. Also Europe would be conquered halting all technological progress from th EU which is still huge.

Yes. I imagine my penis will shrink and I will be rendered impotent if the blood of Americans is not being spilt somewhere meaningless.

If Americans could beat back Progressivism, I would perhaps be more enthusiastic about screwing with other countries. It’s hard for a piece of shit to clean up a piece of shit.

I don’t disagree with this, and (for better or worse) I think we are seeing the results of our growing inability and unwillingness to play the role of world police.

Let me ask you this though, do you think the blood of Americans is worth more, less, or the same as the blood of people in other countries?

Exactly the same. Like my dollar is worth the same as yours. But I’m not involving myself in some dispute you’re having with your neighbor over that dollar when you had it, then gave it to him, then took it back, etc.

Holy crap, the cojones on Zelensky. Three years ago he was a comedian running a nightly sketch show with Playboy playmates and now he’s here. Look at his eyes - he knows he’s probably going to be dead in a few days’ time but them man has some gigantic balls.

Cold. I hope no neighbor of yours is ever in need of help. (they probably deserve it anyway right?)

So you personally don’t care whether it’s Americans dying to ā€œkeep the peaceā€ or Ukrainians dyeing as a result of not keeping it? Why do you care what America does then?

Holy shit, can he run for president in the US??

What I would give for politicians who are willing to put down their pens and pick up rifles. I respect this man tremendously.

Isn’t this what a leader is supposed to do? Lead by example. He knows this will embolden his populace and his armed forces (assuming he is their commander in chief like the US - i know nothing about their government structure).
This whole situation is crazy to me and has me praying for the Ukranian people and even the Russian people who do not want to support Putin’s war.
I don’t understand why humans believe they can lay claim to any land.

What are you talking about? What’s cold?

Huh? I don’t want America involved. I live in America. My kids live in America. If Americans want to go over on their own, I’m fine with it. I don’t want ā€œAmericaā€ involved.
