Russian Military Buildup Outside Ukraine

Oh! Look! Its a pretty female. Bet you wish you could be near one of those. :pensive:

This looks like one of those gay sex hangouts at the local county park, except that instead of bottles of astroglide its ak-47’s.

You guys have to have blisters by now with the scorching fuck you’re getting from Ukraine.

It’s a three day special military operation, not a war. Calling it the w-word would get you 8 years as a petukh (prison bitch) in Glorious Russia.

Any second Prigozhin will march on Kyiv after his Rostov faint. Any second now.

One of the more bizarre aspects on the war is the complete vindication of GWB’s ā€œaxis of evilā€ theory.

Russians are sustained now almost exclusively by North Korean artillery ammo and Iranian drones coupled with significant amounts of low-key Chinese support.

The new C-in-C of the Ukrainian Army is a Moscow-educated, Russian-speaking ethnic Russian from Russia proper, born 150 miles east of Moscow and an Afghan War vet. So much for persecution of Russians in Ukraine.

Still, I think he’s a pretty bad choice for a C-in-C because you cannot defeat a Soviet Army with Soviet officers.

Syrskyi was born in 1965 in Vladimir, Russian SFSR, then in the Soviet Union.[4] He graduated from the Moscow Higher Military Command School, the Soviet Union’s leading higher military educational institution in 1986 and served in the Soviet Artillery Corps. He initially served in a self-propelled artillery unit equipped with the 152 mm 2S5 Giatsint-S and 203 mm 2S7 Pion self propelled howitzers, including in units earmarked to fire nuclear shells. He later served in Rocket Artillery units fielding the BM-27 Uragan MBRL. He served in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and the Czech Republic until the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.[citation needed]

Yeah. Seems like the common thinking among soviets is to just keep throwing bodies at Ukraine until they run out of ammo, but Russia has a lot more bodies.

That type of thinking would empty out the Ukrainian defenses and population pretty quickly.

I think Russias losses are close to 400,000 at this point.

Yeah, one of the things that gets forgotten is that it’s a massive conventional war and Western lessons - and equipment - from wars in 1980ies onwards aren’t necessarily applicable. As one Ukrainian soldier pointed out to me, the last time US soldiers were under prolonged artillery fire was in 1968 at Khe Sanh and their well-meaning trainers always subconsciously assumed a massive air support umbrella over the battlefield and artillery fire missions at will.

While a lot of stuff such as Bradleys and HIMARS/ATACMS are ridiculously effective, some newer stuff like the Switchblade drones were a failure due to the old adage of army building weapons to fight the last war. Switchblade was designed for scenarios where an American SOF teams stalks and takes out a high-value ISIS target at leisure, while Ukrainians actually need to launch and deploy 20+ simple, home assembled FPV drones to take out a Russian human wave attack in a matter of minutes over a small battlefield sector at any given time.

That’s a massive, emotionally charged debate in Ukraine right now. Zelenskyy tried to protect as much as possible the 20-30 year olds in order to ensure the biological survival of the country after the war. In other words, a 23 year old college graduate is more important that a 45 year old blue collar worker who has already fathered children. It’s a harrowing choice.

The changing nature of warfare and the massive need for drone operators often means that older guys man the trenches as infantry while younger gamers sit somewhat in the back with VR glasses and fly the drones (actual IT guys are further in the back tuning AI assisted software). And it can be difficult to emotionally acknowledge that the younger guys have massive kill counts while the pot bellied middle aged guys are exposed to much more danger, and that both are essential.

These drones are insane! I saw a video a while back of a guy, lost and banged up on the battlefield. The drone found him, delivered a message, then a thermos of tea, then he followed back to safety.

Freakin awesome.

Standing with Ukraine like a MFer! Trying to get them even more help(that they don’t need, of course)! I’ve never heard of a better Bill.

I don’t always agree with Greenwald, but when I want to hear something close to ā€œimpartialā€ these days, he’s my go to:

Btw, to those who think frat boy Tucker is a mouthpiece of talking points for Putin, listen to the end of the Putin interview (1:53 ish), where Tucker busts Putin’s chops to try to get the jailed US reporter released. Which is a lot more than the US gov’t did (they chose the Brittney Grier option…).

Tucker wanted Putin the validate the MAGA stuff (remember how before the interview every creep was giddy how Putin will finally reveal the truth to the Americans - gender neutral bathrooms, ā€œbiggest money laundering operation in the worldā€, Hunter, America evil and so on - and Putin was too old and too proud (a Tsar doesn’t stoop to such levels) to play along so he decided to go the Naryshin route with ā€œPoland started WW2 by forcing Hitler’s handā€ and wave fake history folders around like it’s the 1950ies.

Worth noting that Putin and Naryshkin are exactly geniuses and they’re also very old, much like Joe and Donald.

And that’s not me saying, that Putin’s chief propagandist who brough Tucker to Moscow:

Never let the facts get in the way of anger. The FSB torpedoed the deal for an ex-Marine as well so that people like you can get angry over Griner’s release.

And Gerschkovich was arrested four months after the Griner exchange. But, hey who cares, let’s get angry.

In May 2022, a Forbes article claimed the Biden administration had offered Bout in exchange for the release of Brittney Griner.[61] In June 2020, a Reuters article highlighted that following the charging of U.S. Marine Corps veteran Paul Whelan, Moscow was exploring the possibility of a prisoner swap exchanging Whelan for Bout and a pilot named Konstantin Yaroshenko.[62] Yaroshenko was released in exchange for U.S. Marine Corps veteran Trevor Reed in April 2022.[63]

In July 2022, the proposal got further support from President Joe Biden.[64] On July 27, 2022, Biden approved a possible trade for Griner and Whelan in exchange for Bout.[65] The possibility of an exchange was further complicated when the Russians demanded the inclusion of convicted assassin Vadim Krasikov,[66] who is serving a life term for an assassination in Germany, in the negotiations.[67]

Also in July 2022, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken called his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov for the first time since the start of Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, to whom he made an offer from the U.S. to secure the release of Griner and Whelan. According to the Tagesschau, it was unlikely that Krasikov would be transferred back to Russia.[68] On July 27, Blinken said that the United States had made a ā€œsubstantial offerā€ to Russia to release Griner and Whelan, but declined to say what the United States was offering.[22] On the same day, CNN reported that the U.S. had offered to exchange Bout for both Griner and Whelan.[69][70]
After negotiations, only Griner was exchanged for Bout on December 8, 2022. Biden stated that ā€œfor totally illegitimate reasons, Russia is treating Paul’s case differently than Brittney’sā€.[2] Whelan said that he was ā€œgreatly disappointed that more has not been done to secure my releaseā€. Speaking to CNN by phone from the remote Russian penal colony where he is being held, he added that while he was pleased that Griner had been freed, ā€œI don’t understand why I’m still sitting hereā€.[60] The Russian position was that Whelan was an agent and so required an exchange of comparable value such as assassin Vadim Krasikov. Griner and Bout were just considered criminals and so were of lesser value in their view.[4]

You sure use this accusation often.

Strange for someone who is always hypercritical of those who are far more accomplished and far, far more impactful.

I will admit you were correct to dismiss the threat of the Soros fortune on humanity.

After listening to Alexander Soros, the scion of the Soros empire, highlight the genius of Kamala Harris during his word salad ramble at the WEF.

…google -blah, blah, blah; google -blah, blah, blah, etc. etc…

Spare me. You lost all credibility after that citation of the pussy YTer who fled Russia at the first sign of loss of YT revenue, and started spouting stuff that people like you want to hear, for what reason I wonder? Zero interest in your ā€œexpertiseā€.

Yeah, that’s called references that explicitly refuted what you’ve said. I understand why you’re upset.

I quoted that guy because he spoke English for everyone else. Unfortunately, I’m fluent in Russian and am exposed to their ramblings in original, unfiltered form.

Now, these ramblings are repackaged for you in tailor-made videos such as the one from Greenwald.

You aren’t the first one who’ve accused me of being a know-it all asshole, and won’t be the last. That usually happens when I’m making good points.

But I’d rather be an asshole than bitter and predictable - in the sense of swallowing hook-line-and-sinker authoritarian propaganda under the guise of contrarianism.

I warned my wife that this would be the fuel, which there is plenty of, that Putin would be capitalizing on when he gets a platform, and Carlson walked up and handed it to him on a fucking silver platter. :man_facepalming:

Well, if you’re a POS without scruples, working for authoritarians is both profitable and fun.

Tucker got paid a ā€œmeaningful feeā€ per Russian government sources (whatever that means) and received the full foreign dignitary treatment - best seats at the Bolshoi and of course a beautiful young woman with surprisingly good English who threw herself at his feet in a grocery store proclaiming that her biggest fantasy in life is intercourse with a fifty-something former American TV host.

Of course, chances are that eventually the devil - the FSB - will come to collect his due.

Yeah, he better stay away from windows.

Edit: and tea. That stuff will kill ya!

And of course these beautiful young women want soggy fifty somethings. I can’t keep the chicks away since I crossed the half century mark.
