Judging by the fact that Ukraine is assaulting with 2 brigades and breached 2 defensive lines near Zaporozhie and one near Bakhmut, while the Russians are blowing up 2 dams to stop these two brigades, I come to the conclussion it will be a humiliating loss for Russia.
Here a small review of the losses Russians have at the 2nd defensive line. It is really humiliating for a defending side to have such losses.

The Chechens are accusing Wagner of selling their coordinates to the Ukrainians which resulted in a HIMARS strike, Rybar is accusing general Makhomedov for a two hour parade review near Kreminna which resulted in 200+ KIA/WIA after a HIMARS strike (and implying that’s because of him being a black***), the regular army is claiming both Wagner and Chechens are raping their soldiers (surprise, surprise) while claiming the latter are making TikToks safely in the rear.
2nd defensive line in Bahmut was breached as well. So with 2 brigades Ukrainians were able to breach 2 defensive lines near Zaporozhie and Bahmut. I am expecting that they will place a defensive line as well and try to make bigger the offensive line at these two areas before assaulting the last lines. I am not expecting a massive offensive until the 3rd Russian defensive line in both places is overcome.
So far the tactical work has been amazing. The assault teams are wonderful. I was not expecting such work.
Afterwards it will be a massive push forward and encirclement of Russian troops with mechanized brigades. They need to breach the 3rd defensive line so Russian air superiority is nulified. I bet it will take few months before a major push. Ukrainians are waiting for their F16 pilots to be ready.

You have to let go of the romantic notion of “one’s own people” in Russia. Russia is a hyper-individualistic society and there’s simply no inter community cooperation or solidarity to speak of.
No one running Russia - or vying to take over Russia - wouldn’t blink an eye if 99% of other Russians died. For Russian elites average Russians are a non-entity. So their decision to drop the bomb on Russians solely depends on how will this affect their pampered offspring residing in UAE, London and Miami.
And it speaks volumes about this difference in national cohesion and solidarity inside the respective countries of Ukraine and Russia that it took Wagner a year to capture 90% of Bakhmut, a town of 70k people pre war and six hours to capture Rostov-on-Don, a city of more than a million people in Russia.
