Maybe, but then neither would you have the facts. (I’m certainly not guessing at the law.)
At least I know that the primary Russian interference at issue was the exfiltration of voter registration data.
There are excellent reports and analysis in the Israeli and British press regarding which data was copied, as well as the purpose behind it. Long story short, Putin, at al, thought Hillary was going to win and wanted to created a cloud over her presidency, thus weakening the USA abroad due to disunity.
Putin got his goal, albeit in reverse. In short, instead of Trumpers being useful idiots, it’s Democrats being useful idiots.
Well, that’s been precisely my point. We have facts that Russia tried to monkey around in the election. What we have not seen are facts confirming/denying they had some impact on the election (e.g., changing vote totals). Anyone who said “yes, they did” or “no, they didn’t” (as you did, “debunked!!”, as I recall), is making shit up.[quote=“Jewbacca, post:1688, topic:226860”]
(I’m certainly not guessing at the law.)

(Actually, it appears you are, based on what you wrote previously.)
I don’t doubt for a second this was part of the motive to interfere. But they can’t predict elections better than anyone else, and in light of Trump’s minions having the depth of relationships with Russian high goons, there’s no rational reason to simply assume there was no Trump play.
Oh, he got his goal all right - weak, confused leadership in the White House he can manipulate into nearly any conceivable scenario he wants to.
Yeah there was for sure. My thoughts were that the MSLM were collectively busy churning out fake news on the Trumpster while the Internet news people were busy cranking out fake news on Hillary. This is strictly an observation.
That’s an impossible one to figure out ED. Trump says he didn’t like Flynn lying to Pence so he was terminated. Is Trump telling the truth? I have no idea, but I don’t have any logical reason to disbelieve him at this point.
True, I don’t think this is the story that it started out to be. There were many on the far left calling for impeachment over this very matter now they are somewhat silent.
Yeah, this is one that I could never understand from the beginning. Now most, other than the fervent anti Trumpers realize this is nonsense.
And this was what I have been saying from the beginning. It does seem to be largely overblown. If Russia tampered with a US election I am all for investigating it. But, on the other hand there really is no proof of this happening. And there certainly no proof that Trump had anything to do with any of it. It’s sort of obvious that the far left is upset that Trump is President and that’s the real reason for dragging Trump into this. Heck I’m actually upset that Trump is President …but there wasn’t much of a choice.
Hmm…Democrats want to investigate Russian interference into our election; Trumpers don’t. That makes the Dems ‘useful idiots’?
I’ll give you a logical reason to disbelieve him.
Trump was informed on or about Jan 26th that Flynn had lied to the VPOTUS. If being displeased with this behavior was the motivation for firing Flynn, it should have occurred at that time, or very soon thereafter. Yet Trump didn’t fire Flynn until Feb 13th (and tellingly, only after the lie became public knowledge).
So, there’s your logical reason for not believing him.
Democrats don’t want to investigate Russian interference in your elections. They want a noisy, inclusive, investigation into. . . .whatever . . . to score political points and create chaos for Trump.
The Russians may or may not have stolen Hillary’s emails. It’s plausible. She certainly made it easy to do with forwarding the emails from her homebrew server to Carlos Danger, er I mean, Anthony Weiner, which is certainly a safe thing to do, given he’s immune to blackmail. After all, all he does is hit on porn stars and sexts with little kids. Who doesn’t do that?!
Russia may or may not have stolen Podesta’s emails. Given his password was “password,” I’m leaning toward the teenage hacker who said he did it, but we’ll never know. Probably a bunch of people stole his emails at the same time.
Now, Russia did exfilltrate a bunch of voter data. For which they’ve just now been sanctioned.
So the Russian investigation is as concluded as it will ever get. No one will ever know more than the above.
What will happen is a bunch of noise signifying nothing created by useful idiots on the Left, instead of useful idiots on the right.
So your reason for disbelieving him is that he was aware of the lie 20 or so days before and didn’t fire him then? Well, that is certainly possible. But then again I have many employees and I have gone weeks before firing someone that I was suspicious of simply to make sure that I had all the facts. One can always dismiss an employee, but it is quite embarrassing to be found out that you were wrong after the fact.
I am only suggesting that as a possible alternative. I am not dismissing your theory. Neither one of us knows for sure and we probably won’t until a long time from now…if ever.
Except Yates gave the WH transcripts of Flynn discussing sanctions with the Russian ambassador. So there was no doubt re whether he had lied to the VPOTUS.
This is a pretty good start for why to disbelieve everything that comes out of his mouth. Which ignores YEARS of previous contradictions and flip flops on all sorts of political thinking. Compiling a list of everything would take a long time.
If you don’t like Trump’s position on something wait 5 minutes and it will change.
Bob Mueller is not investing Russian interference. He is not counter-intelligence. He is investigating whether a crime was committed by Gen. Flynn, et al.
At best, it will be a perjury hunt.
At worst, it will be a debacle. Muehller and Comey are such special friends they vacationed together. Muheller hired the Clinton Foundation’s lawyer to be his assistant. In fact, every lawyer hired was a Clinton contributor. It’s rapidly heading towards being a joke.
Do you think Mueheller and that team will investigate Loretta Lynch, who Comey said did try to interfere with the investigation into the portion of this issue involving Hillary’s emails? Or at least, coordinated the investigation with the Clinton campaign to limit the damage? Of course not.
Special counsel operate under a defined scope of investigation and jurisdiction, meaning he can’t go off on a lark into the General Lynch matter unless authorized to, no matter how interesting.
The power to investigate Lynch belongs with Trump and Sessions, not Mueller. They can green light an investigation into General Lunch at any point based on what Comey said. Have they?
And lest we forget, the House and Senate Intelligence Committee investigations have yet to conclude, so counter-intelligence work may still be going on.
Cheney and Scalia went duck hunting together–“Quack, quack,” remember? Everyone in Washington knows everyone else.
Further, every Republican in Washington sang Mueller’s praises when he was selected as special counsel. And lest we forget, he was a Bush appointee. The notion that he has turned into a Democratic shill is not credible.
No, but I don’t think they’re going to re-open Iran-Contra either. So let’s call it a draw so far as Mueller not investigating partisan issues he wasn’t charged with investigating.
Considering that the Russian ambassador to Israel said recently in an interview that Hamas is not a terrorist organization, I somehow doubt it.
The most bizarre aspect of this is how many alt-righters in the West have a hard on for Vladimir Putin. It’s especially troubling that this admiration is seeping into the mainstream, both into the GOP and some elements in the US military, believing that he has zero tolerance when it comes to radical Islam.
Because Putin’s actual record inside Russia when it comes to these matters is more akin to the worst nightmares they had about Obama.
