Tried free squatting today. Did so in my garage instead of going to the gym. Mistake. Started warming up. At 135x5, decided I wasn’t into it and said fuck it. Couldn’t get loose, 23 different thoughts going on at the same time, etc. Got a call from my union hall on Thursday and I actually start back to work for a new company on Monday. Hopefully they’ll work around my school schedule for a while.

That’ll give me time to work on 2 certification tests before spring that I can then put on my resume, Wireless and the first of the Cisco tests. As odd as this may sound, the best part about going back to work for a different company is that I’m not the boss. I just have to show up and do my job. I liked being the foreman at my previous employer but at this point I would rather not have the headache. Makes it easier to concentrate on school.

PS. My wife informed me the other day that I’m getting a ‘station’ butt. I’m beginning to like squats more and more, even though I suck at them. Bonus points to anyone who gets the ‘pop culture’ reference.

Well, as you can see, it’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve posted. I got called back to work, and not having done any real work in like a year, I’ve been freakin whipped. Between classes, going back to work, and side work, I’ve had zero time for much else the last few weeks. It’s kinda of odd but whenever I REALLY need the money, work seems to ‘appear’. Amazing what a little faith and a lot of ‘just doing the next right thing’ can accomplish. Hopefully my current employer will work around my school schedule this fall so I can get some hours in. It seems he has the work. We shall see. As for training, haven’t been able to fit it in. Life, ya know. I’m hoping to have all scheduling conflicts worked out by Labor Day so I can get back to it. An interesting side note however…I’ve lost 10lbs since returning to work. My wife told me if I’m not careful, I’m going to get ‘too sexy for my shirt’. I love being an ‘old married couple’!!!

That’s cool about the job. It does sound like there is a lot of “life” going on. It’s hard to juggle all the balls sometimes.

To stay in the training groove you might try frequent, short sessions. Makes it less daunting than thinking “shit, how am I going to find an uninterrupted hour?”. Pick one movement and do it for 20 minutes, then get out. Or pick two and alternate back and forth. The weight used doesn’t really matter.

That may be exactly what I do for a while, ala OLAD or 3/5/1 doing just the mains. Knock em out and go. I will say this…it’s much more satisfying participating in life than just observing

For the time being I’ve started on a Singles Routine that I can do in my garage after work. It consists of rack pulls and standing mils. It will at least keep me in a groove until I’m back on 8hrs. Currently on 12hr days…plus school!

Wow. Ain’t been here in a while. I think I may finally have a training partner. We’ll see how that works out. Working out the kinks of benching 3 days a week. Working my way back to my previous best (320) as quickly as possible. It goes sorta like this: Sunday heavy (triples), Tues light, 7’s (approx 80% of Sunday), and Thurs med 5’s (approx 90% of Sunday)
