Ah, the pleasures of education. And I think the whole dedication to exercise thing leaves us all a little touched in the head. If you bought a kettlebell you wouldnt have to leave the house for cardio.
Well boys, I got my ass whipped by Strep throat this weekend. Felt like crap and didn’t train Sunday or this morning. I’m thinking I just may take this week off and rest. If I do anything I’m going to do some cardio and that’s about it. Saturday afternoon my throat hurt so bad I couldn’t drink a whiskey to numb it. After 3 hours in the Urgent Care I found out I have Strep, not the daughter. I hope she doesnt catch it from ME this time…
Dateline Saturday 5:09 am
Squat warm up: 20x125
Bench press: barx20, 135x10, 170x8, 210x8, 250x6, 280x3, 2x300x1, 250x6
Dips: 3xBWx8
Incline bench press: 4x170x6
Flat flys 4x45x6 super set with elevated push ups: 5,5,5,3
Inclined CGP: 4x135x6 (bastardized JM press)
OH triceps ext: 3x145x8
Treadmill interval, 11 minutes
I was feeling the effects of a sore throat. Tried to train through the fever and pain. The bench weights felt pretty light, I was happy with those sets. I’m going to work on these CGP’s on the incline bench for a while. 135 is kinds of light, but it was all I could do to finish the 6th rep on each set. By the time I got to the tread mill I was completely used up. 10 minutes was laughable.
I did take my Harley out and blow off the cobwebs. Saturday. That was after a trip to Goodwill and a run to Lowe’s for some spring repair items. Looks like Molly Mallard didn’t like her neighbors. she has abandoned her nest. The daughter wants us to try and hatch the eggs. I think she has been off the nest long enough their will be no survivors. Also I don’t need a bunch of Mallards in my back yard. The Labs and Chessies in the neighborhood would have a field day.
JW’s morning thought: A dollar saved is a dime earned. The rest is taxes.
Nice training, and balls to the wall dedication too…
Hope you are feeling well. Duck eggs with some back bacon… mmmm…
And if they do hatch, and you set them free after raising them… they will be back year after year to nest…

I dont know about dedication Bunny, more like stupidity. I’m kind of hoping they dont hatch… My rosemary bush has been out of action since the hen layed there… Dammit!
Look at you. Now you’re playing with 300#. Soon you’ll be playing with 315#. Great work!
Hope the strep goes quickly. I HATE that stuff! It is the one thing that absolutely floors me.
Have you tried Chloraseptic? The numbness doesn’t last long, but it is sweet relief.

It is really bad, then. Did you get the fever as well? A good bout of strep sends mine over 104…every time. Did they give you any pain meds?
I have had a low grade fever in spells… Aleve for the pain… I just cant taste anything and my throat still hurts like hell… fighting through it… typical
Wilson, it may be strep. You may want to get checked by your doc. Way to train through the pain. Better man than I.
Wilson, how ya holding up, brother? Feeling any better?
Hope your feelin’ better young fella… hey, maybe you got a variant of the Avian flu/ Swine flu?
Perhaps you have contracted the dreaded… Duck Throat! Mallard Malaria?
Thanks for checking in on me guys… Still feeling like something between death warmed over and a bucket of cool shit. The Doc said I didn’t have strep, but some other kind of 14 syllable throat infection… coupled with… whooping cough. Now ain’t that a helluva note. Here I am 48 years old and I have some childhood infectious disease that was supposed to be eradicated or something
well 48 is the new 8 or somethibng like that…Dr. Goat prescribes 3 shots of tequila, a blackened steak the size of montana and a steam bath at the Playboy mansion…get well soon JW

x2 but only add in a pair of giggling coeds or bored housewives or any coed/housewife combo you desire.
Still on the mend? Things are eerily quiet from your neck of the woods…
He’s probably tied up by some sex starved housewives… or a bunch of streppers… heheheh! yes… pun intended!
Thanks for checking in on me. Seems I have been successful at catching something at 48 I couldn’t catch at 4… the Whooping Cough. the old wives tale is its the 100 days cough. I sure hope not! Every time I have tried to get physical I have spells of uncontrollable deep dry coughs. It seems to be calming down so I hope I can get back to the gym by the weekend. Funny how a childhood disease that’s supposed to be eradicated can whup and old guy’s ass. At least I’m down to a svelte 236 right now!
JW, I’ve missed your kroc rows and comment of the day. Get better soon.
Your absolutely thin! I guess that is the silver lining. Time for some shrimp and grits to bulk back up ![]()
Glad that you are feeling better. Looking forward to seeing you back at it.
