It was my last training day for 2009. I wanted to get 315, but I reached a little too far this morning. I had the bar a bit back on my hands on my first attempt. I just couldn’t muscle it up. I was just psyched out on my second attempt. I went on an finished my training. I guess for my next training cycle I’ll work on a 315 max. That will start after the first year.

JW- I think your Saturday statement got cut-off…shouldn’t it say " so long as she isn’t in ear shout when I make the proclamation"???
280x3…might have taken a little out of you before the 315…plus coming out of the holidays and trying to hook 315 again is major Ballz…That will fall regularly before long.
Enjoy the rest of the year. Little bit of backslidin, think they’s called deloads, will do you good.
I think OldGoat hit it on the head. That 280x3 had to take it’s toll.
You really jumped all over it during the later part of the year. The whole year looked good, but the max just jumped towards the end. Great work!
Oh no…you don’t get off the 1st page that easily.
Send out the bloodhounds…its time to locate JWilly! He is probably at some super secret Russian Bench Press Camp and he is coming back with 375!!

Thanks for checking on me guys. We took the daughter to Disney for a few days. I didn’t pick up a weight or look in the gym. I guess I had an Eco deload. I did learn a few things. Disney is NOT the place to go between Christmas and New Year’s.It was a bitch driving with a huge pile up on I 95 in Georgia and averaging only 45 mph across South Carolina. The park was at capacity. While all the crowds were a bitch, and the lines were long, our daughter had a blast. So I now owe her a trip during a less crowded time.
I have started on the 325 bench progression. I added OHPs even if the weight is anemic. My shoulder didn’t hurt so I will take it slow and easy with them. As usual the pec deck and push ups are done as super sets, along with the triceps work. Me thinks me chesticles will be sore this evening!
JW’s thought of the moment: Many people look forward to the New Year for a new start on old habits
Great to have you back. I’m glad that, at least, the daughter had a good time. My wife wants us to take the kids there in a couple of years. I am pretty sure that my experience will be much the same. I am not looking forward to it, but it will be worth it for the kids.
Looks like a lot of volume there. Nice work. 325 will be yous in no time…

Lat pull downs: 3x135x10

DAMN its COLD!! 3 days of 30 mph wind out of the northwest and highs of 38 degrees. This is North Carolina, not North Dakota!! I fell into the old normal back stuff. Probably should have done some lower back stuff. I’ll add pull throughs next time. I skipped out on the low rows. Tried to work on the rear delts a bit. I’ll continue down that vein for a while. I should have done the elliptical but I wussed out. Back to the grind in the morning. It looks like a cold week is shaping up!
JW’s morning weather statement: It was so cold that I bumped into a brass monkey looking for a welder
Sounds like the same weather we’re getting here. Invigorating, ain’t it? Damn gym was at 54 degrees this morning. If it smelled worse it’d be just like the old days. Your back is getting very strong.
Good work on the chest and back and great work braving DW! Man do I hate crowded amusement parks.
Nice work. Your workouts are looking good.
Also, I hear that you are in for some record cold. Keep warm and don’t let the muscles seize!
Nice work, J-Willy. We’re getting some cold here too, but not much snow so far.
Nice effort JW, you’re really hitting on all cylinders.

Bastardly cold chest training, dateline Tuesday 4:11 am
DAMN its still cold. So I’m really thinking there is teeth in this global warming thing… Week 1 is down on my bench progression. I rush through weekday training. Its tough trying to get home, get ready for work, help get the young’un up and the most important, make the coffee. I was pretty happy with today’s training. I’m looking forward to next week’s heavier load.
I went to the Doc yesterday. My ears, which ring all the time have been ringing at a different pitch and my head has been hurting a lot. (Yes the wife tells me a head like this damn sure should hurt) Most times this means the old blood pressure meds are not working. The Doc checked me on 3 different cuffs and LOWERED my dosage. My BP was low. When I got home I found I had forgotten to take my meds. My follow up should be really interesting. Maybe my pressure will be so low he will take me off the meds…
JW’s morning thought: Scientists say because of global warming they expect the world’s oceans to rise four and a half feet. The scientists say this can mean only one thing - Gary Coleman is going to drown.
We were just bashing global warming over on SteelyDs thread. Remember its called climate change now not global warming. Great news about the blood pressure. You workout so hard and religiously that some of those meds had to get dropped eventually.
4:11 what?, can’t get there at 3:50? I love it!!! Nice work and lower BP in the veins is a good, good, thing…
