Rumblin', Stumblin', Bumblin' to 50

JW- For grip you may want to consider dropping down a little on the rows, say to 70-75 so you bang out 20-30 reps…the time under tension would probably help the grip… but doing anything on 4.5 hours sleep is going to kill your grip…props to you for going after it. Enjoy the beach!

I’ll give it a try for a few weeks. Thanks OG

Ok, we’re gonna have to bring the strength scale back again. 280 bench is getting you into the “she’s kinda plain” strong range and closin in on ugly strong. Am I the only one not doing the crocidile rock or kroc rows? Ancient tibetian grip strength training technique. Squeeze a tennis ball, a lot. Old school shot putters did it constantly pre-fancy grip stuff. Works. Makes your employees think your on the edge, too. Kinda a Bogart Caine Mutiny type thing. Your work outs are looking very good.

Gonna get me a tennis ball. Nothing like being Bogartesque!!

No training this morning. Yesterday was my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We had a big party and all were surprised, excitement galore. It was so exciting one old cat had a stroke and had to call EMS. There must have been something about a 73 year old woman pole dancing that made him throw a clot…

I didn’t want 2 sleep deprived training days in a row. My shitty workout from Sunday still sticks in my craw.

JW’s morning thought: Married people don’t live longer than single people. It just seems longer.

JW, I feel bad I busted your balls about getting wrist straps. Maybe you could use them on the sets after your grip fails.

HAHA No problem Eco. I have always had grip issues. I’m going to work harder of the grip work. I’ll never be a big dead lifter. It’s all about being stronger at 50 than I was at 23. I’m getting there!

No hurry. Once you hit 50 you can’t remember being 23 so you think you’re stronger now. At least in the re-telling. 50 years married is fantastic. Hope they have a many more.

Bastardly chest day. Dateline Tuesday 4:10 am

Bench press: Barx20, 135x10, 200x8, 230x5, 250x3, 2x280x1
Incline DB Press: 75x8, 75x6, 75xmiss
CG bench press 135x15, 2x185x8
OH triceps with rope: 110x15, 110x12, 110x8
Triceps push down V handle: 110x12, 110x10, 110x8

I’m going to have to get up a little bit earlier to get the training in like I want to. 280 went up easy both times. I would have red lighted in a meet, but the damn weight went up. I bit off more than I could chew with the 75’s I couldn’t do a rep on the 3rd set of inclines. I did the CGP the old fashioned way. I’m going to go back to doing them in the Smith. I can load the weight up and put less pressure on my shoulders. I did the triceps work in super sets. I passed on cardio today.

With the pressure of work I need an outlet for some stress. I wish I could train in the afternoon and it not disrupt the family dynamic. The fact remains I can’t do that. So I’m going to get up a little bit earlier to try and achieve the results I’d like. Actually my desired outcomes are pretty ambiguous. I dont have a meet to train for. I’m not a body builder or an real “athlete”. I’m training for my sanity actually. Which is kind of strange for me. I’ve never needed anything outward to focus on. I could count on the successes of work to carry me through. With the challenges of being in an industry that has been in deep depression for 3 years, I need to feel like I can accomplish something. SSSOOO I’m going to get up earlier and train harder. At least I can see results with the iron.

JW’s Morning epiphany: The two biggest problems in America are making ends meet and making meetings end.

Great work on the presses, j-willy. And pushing iron is a great anchor. We all have them…even if the anchor changes form every now and then.
Need to get you a camera for Christmas, so we can see some of these lifts.

If you’re lifting at 4 am that means you woke up at 3 am. Crazy man, just crazy.

My alarm goes off at 3:50… I think I’m going to get up at 3:40 or so.

Jwilly- Damn fine pressing…as I sit here pondering, waiting for deload to end. Really nice work, man!

No training today. We had a house full of tween girls. They were up late and all excited about going to see that vampire movie thing. When my alarm went off at 3:40 am, I rolled over. I’ll make up for it tomorrow morning. Happy early Thanksgiving to all. I hope everyone enjoys a nice time with their friends and family.

JW’s morning question: Are part-time bandleaders semi-conductors?

You have a great Thanksgiving as well. Do some carbo loading tomorrow.

WoW if you get up at 3:50 what time do you go to bed?

Nice work on the pressing Bro!

Eco, I’m planning to do some carb loading. We are all going down to the beach for a traditional Thanksgiving meal, doused with a bunch of extra oysters, shrimp, crab, and rockfish. I’ll have enough carbs to last until Christmas

Thanks Colin. I’m usually in bed between 9:45 and 10:15

Nice work willy. The new gym appears to be paying off. For me its always been the type of people lifting around me, not so much the gym itself. And now, I’ve turned so inward when I lift, that I only notice the other people when I’m warming up…

Have a great turkey oyster and rockfish day!

Happy Thanksgiving, j-willy. Enjoy the beach and the eats!
